Qualification Awarded

Students of the Furniture and Decoration program are awarded with an associate's degree upon successful completion of their courses and meeting the other requirements. Graduates of this program can be employed as official technicians in alarak Furniture Technician ”and can find jobs in furniture production and decoration in private sector.

Specific Admission Requirements

For admission to higher education, students must have taken the nationwide Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) or apply for the non-examination entrance examination. The Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) is held once a year by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in the departments of Higher Education institutions according to the scores obtained from the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) and their high school grade point averages.

Qualification Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), to obtain a weighted GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and to successfully complete the internship based on industry.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to demand recognition of their previous studies at different universities. New students must submit their own transcripts and course contents to the relevant department within the first week of the registration year in order to recognize their studies.

History

In the 2002-2003 academic year, the Furniture and Decoration program started its second education. In 2012-2013 academic year, students were admitted to formal education. In the Furniture and Decoration program, 20 students are enrolled each year, 20 (regular education) and 20 (evening education).

Program Outcomes

1-	1. To be able to read Technical and Professional Pictures, to gain the ability of manual and computer aided drawing and design.

2-	2. Having the ability to do basic operations in furniture manufacturing.

3-	3. To be able to make design, modeling, simulation and production operations with CAD-CAM programs.

4-	4. To use CNC machines, to create programs and to be able to manufacture and manufacture CNC machines.

5-	5. To know the material, to know the methods of production of materials, to have the ability to distinguish the materials and to apply the materials.

6-	6. To know measurement, control tools and tools, to have the ability to use them and to be able to contribute to the manufacturing process during and after manufacturing in quality control units.

7-	7. Compressed air, Hydraulic - Pnomatic recognition, knowing the working principle and having the ability to make periodic maintenance and repairs required for industrial machinery and equipment used in furniture manufacturing.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Each student has to attend the courses, applications, laboratory, project, seminar, workshop, mid-term studies and graduation projects. Students who do not attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams of those courses. The students are required to repeat the course until they meet the attendance requirement in theoretical courses. Examinations are usually done in writing. However, the instructor may also decide to take an oral exam. According to the content of the courses, students can also be directed to the project work provided that it is indicated on the information form. The exams of the courses are given by the instructors. Make-up exams can be given to students who have an excuse with the approval of the related board within 15 days from the end date of the mid-term exam.

Graduates of Furniture and Decoration program; They are employed as technical intermediate staff - technicians in the departments of R & D, UR-GE, Design, Manufacturing and Marketing, Finished Product, Semi-Finished Product and Raw Material in the manufacturing and production of furniture.

Access to Further Studies
