Doctor (Ph.D. Degree)

Specific Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a degree of Bachelor and Master of Arts in the field of English Language Teaching, with min. 80 ALES (Social Sciences) points in addition with min 90 YDS (equivalent international exams). All the other requirements are outlined in the MSKU post-graduate regulations.

Qualification Requirements

A minimum of 240 ECTS credits (1 required course + 7 elective courses + Special studies courses + 1 seminar + Preparation for PhD Proficiency Exam Course + Preparation for PhD Thesis Proposal Course + Doctoral Dissertation I + Doctoral Dissertation II + Doctoral Dissertation III = 240 ECTS) is required to graduate from the doctorate program

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students can be exempt from some courses that are previously taken from a similar program and provided that they were successfully completed.

History

Doctorate Programme of English Language Teaching was initiated with the approval of Higher Education Council in 2014.

Program Outcomes

1-	Developing and enhancing the theoretical and practical graduate degree knowledge at English Language Teaching field

2-	Internalizing and disseminating the values of contemporary knowledge society

3-	Mastering the skills of following, interpreting and appliying the scientific research and innovations related with the field

4-	Doing basic and applied original scientific research at applied linguistics and methodology field

5-	Examining the special problems by using qualitative and quantitative scientific research methods

6-	Developing solutions by planning independently, solving, appling by evaluating the results

7-	Evaluating the knowledge obtained theoretically and practically at academic education process with cause-effect relations

8-	Doing original, theoretical and applied scientific research about teaching English Language

9-	Following and analyzing international literature and contributing to the literature with scientific research

10-	Having communication skills at international level, expressing studies orally and in written

11-	Using the chances for contuning professional life in academic atmosphere

12-	Behaving in accordiance with democracy, human rights, social, scientific and professional ethical values in learning context and society

13-	Mastering English at C1 level of common European Framework at four skills of listening-comprehension, reading–comprehension, writing and speaking

14-	Haiving the competency of taking role inprjects at national and international projects

15-	Doing discourse analysis towards different research problems about teacher-student and/or student-student communication in language classes

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

During academic terms discussion leadings, projects, research, optional and required readings are aplied. This period is followed with the completion of original and comprehensive thesis work.

Graduation Requirements

Min. Credit for Graduation is 240 ECTS. In addition, max. numbers of terms to be accepted as succesful during acedemic courses period is 4 semestre.
