Specific Admission Requirements

Students are enrolled in the programme with TYT Exam point. TYT Exam is conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center Called OSYM.

Qualification Requirements

T.C Within the framework of the regulations determined by the board of Higher Education, student admission to this program is carried out through the central examination system conducted by the student select and placemenent center. Students are enrolled in the program with TYT Exam point.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Previous learning students who were previously educated at another institution of higher education, determined by the board of higher education '' Higher Education Institution undergraduate and gradute level programmes, switching between double major, minor, credit transfer between the institutions and regulations required to be made with, within the framework of Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University undergraduate and graduate academic regulations graduate evening education is recognized. Students who take the exam and succeed are exempt from related courses in the cirriculum

In 2021-2021 Fall Term, Programme of Elderly Care Programme has started the education belongs to Mugla Sıtki Kocman University

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Aged Care Programme is to train decedent professionals who are providing care and rehabilitation for all elderly individuals who need or do not have care and contribue to improving their quality of life

Program Outcomes

1-	Know the basic structure of the human body, the structure and functions of the systems. Know the physical changes that occur due to old age

2-	Evaluate the physical, mental and social care needs of the elderly people. It supports the protection, maintenance and maximum use of daily life activities

3-	Ensure that the elderly individual is fed in accordance with the nutrition program recommended by the dietitian, follow the weight and evaluate the changes with the healt team members

4-	evaluate the living area in terms of accident risk and safety and ensures that necessary arrangements are made

5-	Know the common healt problems in old age, take the necessary measures. Coorperate with family and healt team members to prevent, identify and solve healt problems. Act in accordance with ethnical principles while performing professional activities

6-	Follow the medical care planned by the healt care team and communicate the situation to the healtcare professional if he- she detects problems regarding the implementation of medical care

7-	Carry out personal care and cleaning practices in cases of dependence due to bed, ilness or disability

8-	Protects the elderly person from abuse and informs the family and the related institutions when necessary

9-	Plan the necessary activities in line with the principles of healty and active aging, guide the elderly to receive services from the institutions and organizations providing services, direct them to social activities and support their participation

10-	Have the ability to communicate effectively and have the knowledge of a foreign language to follow the innovations in the field to communicate with a foreign

11-	Have the competence to reach and evaluate the basic scientific knowledge related to the field

12-	Act in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting, applying and announcing the result of elderly care data

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Students of Elderly Care Programme have 2 exams during the semester. First exam effest the semester grade as %40 and the second exam effects the semester grade as %60. All the exams have 100 max point scale

Graduation Requirements

Complete 120 ECTS Credit and have minimum 2.00 general grade of 4.00

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of elderly care programme can work at elderly care hospıtals, civil society committes, municipalities

Access to Further Studies

The successful finishers made by OSYM Examination for vertical transfer of the program(DGS) if they are successful, Nutrition and Dietetics, Gerontology, Nursing, Nursing and Healt Care Services are degree programmes that students can switch and continue the education
