Specific Admission Requirements

High school diploma and obtaining the required grade from National University Entrance and Placement Exam.

Qualification Requirements

In order to obtain a bachelor degree, the students have to complete all the compulsory and elective courses and their grade point average have to be at least 2.0 on the scale of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The students who study at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University may be exempt from some courses according to certain regulations. They may be exempt from the courses if the application is in time and the content is approved by the administrative board of the related vocational school/faculty/institute.


This program was established at 2001-2002 academic year.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of this program is to train individuals with a field and vocational training in the teaching process, a wealth of theoretical knowledge backed by universal values, analytical thinking ability, an advanced social responsibility and ethical understanding as well as who can work in the field of national and international field education, which can transfer ideas and policies to practice using the knowledge and skills acquired after graduation.

Program Outcomes

1- Defines the basic concepts related to preschool education.
2- Explains the Basic Laws of Turkish National Education and compares its objectives and principles at pre-school level level.
3- Design effective applications based on the conceptual framework provided by child development and learning areas.
4- Understands how national and global, cultural, social and psychological factors affect school and student outcomes.
5- Based on the objectives and principles of Turkish National Education in all applications in the pre-school area.
6- Knows the potential problems and learning opportunities that may arise in relation to the development of the child.
7- Develop a teaching strategy appropriate to the readiness of pre-school students in the education process.
8- Express and defend their teaching strategies based on ethical and pedagogical explanations.
9- Uses the knowledge and skills required to work in collaboration with individuals, groups and institutions in the school and community.
10- Understands the individual differences in feelings, thoughts, experiences and expressions of 0-72 months old children and arranges their practices accordingly.
11- Evaluates the developments in the pre-school area.
12- Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate children's level of development.
13- Develops educational environments that support the development of children's well-being.
14- Knows and uses different teaching methods that are appropriate for the students' readiness and support.
15- Develops tools and materials for learning at the highest level taking into consideration the readiness of the students at pre-school level.
16- Applies new and effective technologies in classroom applications.
17- Evaluates the effect of educational practices on students, parents and other stakeholders.
18- Communicates with the students, their families and colleagues in a fair, respectful and sensitive manner.
19- Develops knowledge and skills related to teaching knowledge.
20- Knows the legal rights and responsibilities of professional trainers and the laws related to their field and acts accordingly.
21- It values cultural diversity in society and reflects this to its practices
22- Plans for the support and participation of school-family cooperation in classroom and external applications.
23- Acknowledges the responsibility of the students to participate in the travel and review activities to develop social, artistic and cultural activities.
24- Uses Turkish language correctly and appropriately according to pre-school level.
25- Develops a democratic classroom environment taking into account the characteristics of the preschoolers.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exams are consisted of midterm, final and make-up exam. These exams could be oral, written, oral-application, written-application. For every course, at least one midterm is conducted at the semester. For each course, the format of assessment and evaluation is defined in detail in “Course Teaching Plan”.

Graduation Requirements

Students must obtain a grade point average of minimum 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully complete all the courses (to get a total of 240 ECTS Diploma Supplement).

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

When students were graduated, they work as early childhood teacher at schools in Ministry of National Education, and private schools.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates, who successfully complete their undergraduate education, can apply graduate school, if they get satisfactory point from ALES.
