Institute of Social Sciences Master of Science Programme in International Trade and Finance

Qualification Awarded

Students who have successfully completed the Master's program in International Trade and Finance will qualify for the specialist degree.

Specific Admission Requirements

Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Students will be accepted according to the regulations of the Graduate Education and Training Regulation. According to this; must have a bachelor's degree from foreign faculties or higher education institutions accepted by the Ministry of National Education or Higher Education Institution or have received at least 55 standard points from ALES or equivalent to at least one of the exams accepted by ÖSYM for applying to Thesis graduate programs, In order to be able to apply to the Graduate Program of International Trade and Finance with a degree of undergraduate in a science or art branch accepted by the Higher Education Institution, the degree of graduation must be at least 2.70 over 4 full grades

Qualification Requirements

International Trade and Finance graduate program students must achieve at least seven courses, a seminar and a thesis study outside of their specialized courses throughout their education. In order for a student to be successful in a dersten, the semester must have at least CC of success grade. They are required to have a GPA of 2.00 over 4.00 and a minimum of 120 ECTS credits.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed at least one semester in their undergraduate programs at other higher education institutions may be admitted to the undergraduate programs of the university by horizontal transfer. The courses taken by a student while enrolled in another undergraduate program are determined by the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board, which will be enrolled in a graduate program at the University.

History

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was founded in 1975 under the name of Muğla Business Administration High School affiliated to Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences and in 1982 it was connected to Dokuz Eylül University and continued its education and training activities. In 1992, with the establishment of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, it became the Faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. In the 2011-2012 Spring Semester, İ.B.F. the Department of International Trade and Finance was opened. Within the scope of the same section, a thesis graduate program was opened in 2017.

Profile of the Programme

The Master's program will be in collaboration with the branches of Business Administration, Economics and Finance, International Logistics and Commerce and Management Information Systems. The courses that will be taught in this program require an interdisciplinary understanding. The program will provide students with expertise in theory and practice and will review current issues. The issues that may be encountered in the international trade and financial arena will be analyzed with an interdisciplinary understanding of issues and solutions. Global commodity and capital movements have reached an unprecedented volume in history, and the patterns in these movements have become decisive for the nations and international businesses to survive economically. Our Master's program as an International Trade and Finance Department is to understand the nature of goods and capital movements around the world and to transfer them to our students. There are three categories in the world that distinguish national economies from the most general and distinct. These are developed economies, emerging economies and transition economies. In the emerging economies in recent years, especially given the important role they play in motion a global producer and because of Turkey is an emerging economy of our country, the subject of International Trade and Finance can be concluded that important for the economic success. It is inevitable that our country will be equipped with competent experts in international trade and finance as a necessity to integrate into the global system and to become an important economic player in this system in order to increase international competitiveness. We aim to fulfill this necessity as a department, to examine the issues of International Trade and Finance in the light of scientific research methods and to conduct research, education and training in international standards.

Program Outcomes

1- Can develop and deepen knowledge of international trade and finance or a different field of knowledge at the level of expertise, using the qualifications of the undergraduate level.
2- Acquires the interaction between the disciplines that are related to the field of international trade and finance.
3- Can use theoretical and practical knowledge gained at the level of expertise in international trade and finance.
4- Integrate knowledge acquired in the field of international trade and finance with information in different disciplines and can create new information.
5- Analyze the problems encountered in international trade and finance by using research methods.
6- Can carry out an independent study of the field of expertise in international trade and finance.
7- Develop new strategic approaches for solving complex problems in the field of international trade and finance, and take responsibility to produce solutions.
8- Be able to lead in areas that require the resolution of problems in the field of international trade and finance.
9- Critically evaluate knowledge and skills at the level of expertise in international trade and finance.
10- Supports current developments in the field of international trade and finance and their own work with qualitative and quantitative data and can transfer them in a systematic way in written, verbal and visual form to the field and to the groups outside the field.
11- Critically review the social relations and the norms that guide these relationships, develop and act to change them when necessary.
12- A foreign language can communicate verbally and in writing using at least the European Language Portfolio B2 at the general level.
13- He / she can use computer software and information and communication technologies at advanced level as required by his field.
14- Can audit the collection, interpretation, implementation and announcement of data related to the field of international trade and finance, taking into account social, scientific, cultural and ethical values.
15- Develop strategies, policies and implementation plans in the field of international trade and finance and evaluate the results within the framework of quality processes.
16- Can use assimilated knowledge, problem solving and application skills in interdisciplinary studies in the field of international trade and finance.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Each student must register at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses in order to be able to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam, a final exam, and a makeup exam for unsuccessful students for each course. The achievement grade is 50% for the midterm exam and 50% for the final exam. The total exams are evaluated over 100 points. At the end of the semester, the grade must be at least 70. Students who take one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are considered successful.

Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 7 courses, 1 seminar and dissertation study must be achieved in addition to the specialization courses provided that it is not less than 120 ECTS in the proposed thesis graduate program

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The Master's program in the Department of International Trade and Finance consists of the common subjects of the finance, economics and business departments. Therefore, our program students receive good finance education as well as good business education. In national and international enterprises, they can be employed in foreign trade, foreign marketing and finance departments, banks' external transactions and fund management units. Graduates also have the opportunity to find a job in any field where they can study undergraduate and graduate degree graduates of the Undersecretariat of Treasury, Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, all public institutions such as all kinds of capital market institutions and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Access to Further Studies

Students who have completed the departmental master's degree program can continue their doctorate program as a senior.
