Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum graduation degree from foreign faculties or colleges which are at least four years in Turkey and equivalent to the Higher Education Council (YÖK). In addition, they must meet the additional requirements set by the Institute and Institute Administrative Board and approved by the Senate.

Qualification Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses (total minimum 60 ECTS) in the program and successfully complete the term project (30 ECTS).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is at an early stage. Therefore, recognition of prior learning in all programs of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University has not been fully initiated.

History

The School of Business Administration which was opened in Muğla in 1974-1975 academic year by the Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy in Muğla and connected to Dokuz Eylül University in 1982 with YÖK Law, was established in December 1992 with the establishment of Muğla University and transformed into İİBF with the establishment of Muğla University. In the 1992-1993 academic year, regular education began in the 1994-1995 academic year. The language of instruction of the faculty is Turkish.

Profile of the Programme

The Program of Economics and Finance Non-thesis Master's Degree aims to provide the students who are required to obtain the information required by the contemporary economics and finance science and to create the infrastructure they will need to work in their fields after graduation. On the other hand, it is another aim of our department to contribute to the production of knowledge, to have a participatory, sharing, original values and a contemporary culture of education and work. In this context, it is primarily aimed that our students become preferred individuals in the region and in the country at the level of education, training and research, who adopt the principle of team work, and who are oriented towards solving the problems of the region and the country and who are respectful to national and universal values. Students who graduate from our department are encouraged to have the knowledge, skills and motivation to succeed in the private sector as well as in all areas of the public sector, and in this context, to develop their human capital through lifelong learning practices.

Program Outcomes

1- Develops new models and perspectives by bringing together the information obtained from theory and politics about economy and finance.
2- Identifies the decision-making in the field of economics and finance, politics, systems and interprets them anaytically in practical terms.
3- Examines the role of concepts of innovation, creativity and technologhy in a dynamic global economy.
4- Can move forward the knowledge by taking courses on microeconomics, macroeconomics, money and banking, international finance and international financial institutions.
5- Gains the ability of formulating economic problems and making future projections by using mathematical, statistical and econometric analysis tools.
6- Gains the learning skills to continue his/her work without a dependency or in an autonomous way.
7- Creates new research topics about other disciplines related with economy and finance and offers new policy.
8- Applies his/her their own knowledge, understanding and problem solving skills into working areas (or multidisciplinary) contexts or new or unfamiliar environment.
9- Gains the ability of adapting and implementing an important research progress.
10- Can work in different group workshops.
11- Becomes a demanded employee with high level knowledge in the field of economics and finance in both public and private sector.
12- Will have a value system including the beliefs and behaviours about sub-divisions of economy and finance.
13- Will have a high level of consciousness about democratic process, the role of science in everyday life, sensitivity of others welfare, individual and cultural differences.
14- Can communicate with a foreign language at a general level both written and oral.
15- Uses software with advanced information and communication technologies.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Each student must register for courses at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses in order to be able to take the final exam. At least 1 midterm exam, final exam and unsuccessful students are subject to make-up exams for each course. The grade of the midterm exam is 50% and the final exam is 50%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The final exam grade must be at least 70. Students taking one of the (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) letter grades from a course are considered successful.

Graduation Requirements

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The employment opportunities of our graduates can be listed as follows: They can be employed as civil servants in all public institutions if they get enough points from KPSS B group. Our graduates also have the ability to work in universities as academic and administrative staff. Our graduates can also work in private sector organizations.
