Geological Engineer, PhD

Specific Admission Requirements

Having an ALES grade of at least 55 Having a YDS or equal exam grade of at least 60. To be able to pass the science exam which is made before acceptance Having an MSc. title.

Qualification Requirements

Having completed 90 AKTS course schedule, having et least 3.00 GPA over 4.00 and having an accepted PhD thesis.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students are accepted with respect to transfer programs and academic achievement states.

History

Mugla Sitki Kocman University - Department of Geological Engineering PhD program (English) has accepted its first students in 2015-2016 education year.

Profile of the Programme

Our program accepts PhD students in different amounts varying through years with respect to demand. Furthermore, student exchange programs such as ERASMUS (abroad) and FARABİ (national) provide students to experience other graduate programs.

Program Outcomes

1- Ability to apply mathematical, scientific and engineering knowledge in geological engineering field.
2- Ability to design and perform experiments, to analyze and understand experiment outcomes .
3- Ability to design a system or a compound of the system within required needs.
4- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
5- Ability to determine, descirbe, evaluate and solve geology related engineering problems.
6- To have professional and ethical responsibility and to use this in geological purposes.
7- Ability to have effective verbal and literary communication skills.
8- To have basic education to understand global and social scale effects of geology related engineering solutions.
9- To have consciousness of life long learning and having the ability to perform it.
10- To have knowledge in actual and modern subjects.
11- Ability to use related techniques, skills and modern engineering devices for geological engineering applications.
12- Ability to use English language to follow geological news and communicate with foreign colleagues(“European Language Portfolio Global Scale”, Level B1).
13- Ability to use geology related information techniques, software programs and communicative technologies (“European Computer Driving Licence”, Advanced Level).

Graduation Requirements

To successfully complete 90.0 ECTS lessons of Geological Engineering Graduate Program having GPA 3.00 from 4.00. Acceptance of PhD thesis
