Qualification Awarded

Students are entitled to have an undergraduate certificate/diploma who are succesfully complete programme courses (total 240 ECTS) and achieve at least 2.00 GPA from 4.00 grade system

Specific Admission Requirements

Students should pass the centrally administered entrance exam conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).

Qualification Requirements

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

History

The Accounting and Social Work Department, which is a part of Seydikemer School of Applied Sciences, was opened offically in 2016. The department admitted its first group of students in the 2018-2019 Academic Year.

Profile of the Programme

Department of Social Work aims at training social worker who has professional qualifications and has experience from practice to serve in public establishments and private sector enterprises.

Program Outcomes

1- To have knowledge about social work theories such as system, ecology, empowerment and use conceptual frameworks and perspectives, theoretical approaches and models to guide social work practice.
2- To have knowledge about human development and social environment.
3- To have knowledge about working with individuals, families, groups and different social groups.
4- To have knowledge about management and management processes of public and private social service institutions and organizations.
5- To be able to make researches and studies about social work related to research methods and techniques in social work.
6- To have knowledge about social work ethics, principles and values.
7- To be able to have knowledge about social work practices with all client groups and to realize the process of planned change.
8- To gain the ability to obtain and report appropriate information for social review, evaluation and report preparation.
9- To gain the ability to communicate inter institutions for meeting the needs of clients.
10- To gain the ability to think critically, to use this skill to conduct research and to gain the ability to interpret the results of research and professional literature.
11- To comply with social work ethics, norms and standards.
12- Take on the roles of social work intervention at all levels.
13- Developing an understanding of implementation in institutions, communities, societies and global contexts to ensure social change.
14- To adop tsocial justice and rights based approach within the framework of social, scientific, cultural and professional values.
15- To become a model for society and adopt a lifelong learning approach through knowledge, skills, values and attitudes of social work.
16- To be able to use information and communication technologies, to be able to transfer current information to employees and team members.
17- To be able to follow scientific studies and academic activities at international level by using a foreign language in written and oral form.
18- Has knowledge about theoretical and applied approaches related to the basic sub-fields of psychology, can compare basic concepts and approaches.
19- Uses therapeutic communication and counseling skills at the end of the program.
20- At the end of the program, they gain knowledge of human relations and communication through the use of language and use this in their professional lives.
21- Professional staff trained at the end of the program know the social characteristics of the country and take into account its national values.
22- Analyze the effects of psychodrama and role theory in practice.
23- Have basic knowledge and skills related to applications in different sub-fields of psychology.
24- Defines the basic concepts in the field of health psychology and distinguishes the predictive effects of these concepts on the health and illness behaviors of individuals.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The academic success in courses is determined by the evaluation of the grades in the mid-term and the final exams. In-term grades, mid-term grades and grades related to the course are given to assignments, applications and practical work. In the credit system, the type and the weight of the evaluations (exams, homework, practice and so on) in the credit system are announced to the head of the related department within the first two weeks of the semester and announced to the students by the related teaching unit. The last evaluation is determined by one of the following letter grades by the instructor. Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of social work departmant can work as an social worker in public and private organizations such as the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, Universities, Municipalities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Access to Further Studies

Undergraduates may apply to master's or doctorate programmes.

Mode of Study

- To train social worker who have professional experience and practice experience who will work in public and private institutions, -To train social worker who have gained the conceptual framework and perspectives, theoretical approaches and models that use social approaches, - To train social worker who have the ability to work with disadvantaged groups in society on the basis of human rights and social justice principles, -To educate social worker who have the ability of communication in the institutions and inter institutions with which he / she works and with his / her ability to communicate, - To educate social worker who have the ability to research, learn and use social resources for the benefit of the client, -To educate social worker who have the ability problem solving, empowerment and independence in human relations. -To educate social worker who have gained the ability to interfere with the interaction of people with their environment by benefiting from theories on human behavior and social systems. -To educate social worker who have the ability to follow the technological developments, - To educate social worker who have the ability to contribute to social policy making and development,
