Metallurgy and Materials Engineering

Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates must have high school diploma and an eligible score from the University Entrance Exam.

Qualification Requirements

Succeed in all the courses in the program (240 ECTS in total), the students are expected to get a grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The students who study at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University may be exempt from some courses according to certain regulations. They may be exempt from the courses if the application is in time and the content is approved by the administrative board of the related vocational school/faculty/institute.

History

Our department has got started by accepting undergraduate students in 2010-2011 academic year. The language of education in all programs of our department is English.

Profile of the Programme

Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department accepts 40 new students for each year. Besides students from ERASMUS and FARABI exchange program are accepted, our students can prefer these exchange programs to go another undergraduate school.

Program Outcomes

1- Ability to apply mathematical, scientific and engineering knowledge in metallurgical and materials engineering field.
2- Ability to design and perform experiments, to analyze and understand experiment outcomes .
3- Ability to design a system or a compound of the system within required needs.
4- Ability to determine, describebe, evaluate and solve metallurgical and materials science related engineering problems.
5- Designs and performs experiments, collects data and analyzes and interprets the results
6- Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams.
7- Ability to communicate effectively in Turkish and English orally and in writing; knowledge of at least one foreign language.
8- To have consciousness of life long learning and having the ability to perform it.
9- Knowledge of the problems of the era of metallurgical and material engineering on health, environment and safety in universal and societal dimensions, awareness of the legal consequences of engineering solutions
10- To have knowledge in actual and modern subjects.
11- Aware of the necessity of lifelong learning; accesses information, monitors progress of technology applications, and constantly renews itself.

For each course, the format of assessment and evaluation is defined in detail in “Course Teaching Plan”.

Graduation Requirements

To complete the bachelor´s degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering program the students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our graduates can easily find job in companies and public sector as metallurgy and materials engineers. Having language of education is English, provide big advantage to our graduates.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates, who successfully complete their undergraduate education, can apply graduate school, if they get satisfactory point from ALES.
