Specific Admission Requirements

These criteria are announced before every semester and are set by the Department's decision and approval of the Institute of Health Sciences.

Qualification Requirements

To have received the course credit specified in the Postgraduate Education Regulation and to have a graduation grade point average (PhD).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications to Education Accordance Committee of the department are evaluated in means of contents and duration of the course passed before. Counted courses, passed in previous university education are transferred to the new curriculum script with the same level of success.

History

The proposal to open a Health Management Department within the Faculty of Health Sciences of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University was discussed at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board on 21/12/2011 and it was approved in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547, amended by the Law No. 2880. After the Master's Program with Thesis as the Health Sciences Institute Health Management Department, the Doctorate Program was opened in 2018 and education began in 2019.

Profile of the Programme

The PhD program is a postgraduate educational process, consisted of 8 semesters in total, 4 of which are theoretical and other 4 are related to performing of the thesis. After the successful completion of the course period, after the successful completion of the doctoral qualifying exam, they are entitled to receive the title of "doctor" when they complete their doctoral thesis.

Program Outcomes

1-	To be able to direct and analyze the administrative, financial, technical, legal and medical processes and activities of health institutions

2-	To have the knowledge and skills to provide effective and efficient services in health institutions

3-	To learn, understand and apply the roles and responsibilities of the managers of modern health institutions and follow new scientific developments.

4-	To have knowledge and skills of modern decision making techniques in health institutions and to be able to use them effectively

5-	To be able to analyze and interpret the health sector with its macro and micro dimensions

6-	Being open to continuous improvement, innovation and lifelong learning in the field of Health Institutions Management.

7-	Understanding the structure and characteristics of the health systems and analyzing the health policies.

8-	Using scientific methods in determining the problems related to the field, taking part in projects, planning research, interpreting the results of his studies by choosing appropriate statistical methods, writing his report and presenting or publishing in scientific meetings

9-	To give importance to ethical values in scientific research and publications

10-	Being able to synthesize an original topic about health management using critical analysis and creative thinking

11-	Developing a new idea and / or method on a topic related to health management

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The evaluation criteria for the exams, which are in accordance with the current university regulations for education, are set by the instructor for the given course.

Graduation Requirements

To provide sufficient grade point average at the end of the course periods and to successfully complete the Doctoral Thesis.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Those who complete the program will have the opportunity to work as a senior manager in a health institution, as a researcher in a research team or as an academic staff in a university.

Access to Further Studies

There is no other program at the higher level of doctoral education.
