These criteria are announced before every semester and are set by the Department's decision and approval of the Institute of Health Sciences.

Qualification Requirements

Completion the course credits required for graduation and reaching the average grade for graduation (Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications to Education Accordance Committee of the department are evaluated in means of contents and duration of the course passed before. Counted courses, passed in previous university education are transferred to the new curriculum script with the same level of success.

History

The Mental Health and Disease Nursing doctorate program was opened on 06.05.2020 by the decision of the Higher Education Board (YÖK). It started to accept students in the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 Academic Year.

Profile of the Programme

The Mental Health and Disease Nursing doctoral program is a 4-year graduate education program that includes 4 courses and 4 thesis semesters. After the successfully completed course period, those who pass the doctoral qualification exam receive a Doctorate in Mental Health and Disease Nursing (Ph. D.) degree when they complete their doctoral thesis.

Program Outcomes

1-	To be able to develop basic concepts and principles specific to Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing

2-	Mental Health and Disease Nursing To be able to handle psychiatric nursing and mental illness with a holistic approach from biological, psychological and social aspects

3-	Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing and the ability to comprehensively plan and implement preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative individual-centered nursing care related to mental illnesses

4-	Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing and having up-to-date information on mental illnesses, interpreting, analyzing and synthesizing the information obtained

5-	To be able to form an individual nursing care philosophy for mental health and diseases / psychiatric nursing and mental illnesses

6-	To be able to do / have evidence-based, multidisciplinary, original scientific research in the field of Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing

7-	Understanding the problems of Mental Health and Disease Nursing / psychiatric nursing and mental illness in our country

8-	To be able to analyze the reflections of the gender perspective on Mental Health and Disease Nursing / psychiatric nursing and mental illnesses and produce solutions to the problem

9-	Developing strategies, policies and implementation plans on issues related to Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing

10-	o be able to apply strategies, policies and implementation plans developed on issues related to Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric nursing in national and international fields

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The evaluation criteria for the exams, which are in accordance with the current university regulations for education, are set by the instructor for the given course.

Graduation Requirements

Reaching the level of average limit to be graduated by completing the dissertation thesis.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

They work as clinical officers and executive nurses in Ministry of Health, University and Private hospitals of nurses specialized in Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric Nursing. They can work as academicians in the faculties of Health Sciences of the universities, in the Department of Psychiatric Nursing in the Nursing Schools, in the departments of nursing, midwifery and health officers in Health Schools.

Access to Further Studies

Specialist psychiatric nurses with a doctorate can apply to university academic staff announced in Turkey/abroad.

Formal education The aim of the Mental Health and Disease Nursing Doctorate Program is to be able to access, evaluate, conduct scientific research, apply knowledge and skills about the concepts, principles and methods of nursing / Mental Health and Disease Nursing / Psychiatric Nursing, and Nursing / Mental Health and Diseases Nursing / Psychiatry To train mental health and illness nurses / psychiatric nurses who can transfer to nursing education and use teaching principles and methods in these fields.
