Specific Admission Requirements

For admission to Faculty of Education Education of Fine Arts Department candidates must have passed the YGS test implemennt by OSYM and which is available for the year and have obtained the minimum YGS score set by the University Senate. Later on candidates must be successful at a two-stage "Special Skills Exam" applied by the Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Education, Education of Fine Arts Department.

Qualification Requirements

In order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Art Teaching education; Students must have successfully completed all the general culture, field knowledge and educational sciences courses they must take in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and their overall weighted GPA must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00. In order to successfully complete the Art Teaching Program, it is necessary to pass all the courses in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) and obtain a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students are accepted from other universities from Science Teacher Education program by internal transfer system that selects students regarding academic achievement.

History

Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversity Faculty of Education, Education of Fine Art Department was established in 2001-2002 Education period. It continues education and training with 1 Prof. Dr., 3 assistant professor, 1 lecturer, 4 research assistant dr. and 1 research assistant.

Profile of the Programme

Our program profile is defined as Fine Arts Education Department Art Teaching. The program covers an eight-semester program and provides Art and Crafts Teaching education. The program is determined by YÖK and is implemented jointly in all Education Faculties. It is normal education and there is no secondary education. - The program includes Basic Art Education, Original Printing, Sculpture, Pattern, Main Art Workshop and Elective Art Workshop courses, as well as vocational knowledge and general culture courses, for teacher candidates to study art/painting in the primary and secondary education departments of schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and private schools. It aims to ensure that students have the knowledge, skills and equipment to serve as visual arts teachers. - In this context, students have the opportunity to open exhibitions of their artistic works individually or in groups throughout the year. In addition, the department conference hall aims to bring invited guests together with students, by creating environments that will enable students to meet not only in the workshop but also with other disciplines, with concerts, presentations and conferences, and to develop their professional and artistic skills outside the course process.

12-	He/she has knowledge about the teaching programmes, teaching strategies, methods, technics and measurement and evaluation of his/her professional interest.

13-	He/she has knowledge about art culture and aesthetic.

14-	To be able to use a forein language to share his/her profession's learnings into national and intenational level.(B1 level)

15-	He/she uses informatics and communication technologies in advance level of Europian Computer Driving Licence(ECDL).

16-	Recognize the Turkish National Education system, teaching profession and educational sciences in all aspects; Knows Atatürk's principles and revolutions.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Students register for the courses in the program at the beginning of each semester. The student can enroll in as many courses as he wants without exceeding his semester course load. Moreover; Depending on their level of success, they also have the right to enroll in upper semester courses. Education; It is planned as Fall and Spring semesters. In order to take the final exams, the student must attend 70% of the theoretical courses and 80% of the applied courses. In the program; Evaluation methods such as classical exam, multiple choice exam, performance evaluation and product evaluation are used. Evaluation methods and techniques for each course and the contribution of exams to success are determined by the instructor, but success in the course; It is determined by the relative system in all colleges, faculties, institutes and other units affiliated with the rectorate in the university.

Graduation Requirements

Students have to get 240 ECTS cretids at the end of the 8.th. term, accomplish the trainee period and all applications both theorical and practical. Must have a GPA(grade point average) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. These terms and conditions on which students can graduate with the decision of the board of directors.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates can work as a fine arts teacher in public and private schools. They can work as a consultant at several agencies and organizations, public or private art galleries. They may training as a freelance artist in their studios.

Access to Further Studies

Department of Art Education has started accepting students at the Master's level as of the 2023-2024 Fall Semester. PhD Program is not available.

Mode of Study

Bachelor degree Purpose: To train Art Teachers who are qualified to provide art education in primary and secondary schools. Purposes: 1- To have theoretical knowledge about art history specific to the relevant art field. 2- To have theoretical knowledge about art design and materials. 3- To be able to use knowledge about art and design methods and techniques, to develop and deepen this knowledge. 4- To have theoretical knowledge about artistic criticism methods. 5- To be able to use methods and techniques related to the relevant art field. 6- Ability to work harmoniously and productively alone, independently and/or in a group. 7- Abstract and concrete concepts; To be able to transform creative thinking into innovative and original works. 8- Being able to think analytically and critically. 9- Getting to know national and international cultures. 10- To have theoretical knowledge about students' development, learning characteristics and difficulties. 11- Developmental characteristics and individual differences of students; To be able to apply the most appropriate teaching strategies, methods and techniques, taking into account the characteristics and achievements of the subject area. 12- To be able to use teaching programs, teaching strategies, methods and techniques, and measurement and evaluation methods related to the field. 13- To have theoretical knowledge about art culture and aesthetics. 14- To be able to use a foreign language at least at B1 level in order to share professional knowledge at national and international levels. 15- To be able to use information and communication technologies at the advanced level of the European Computer Usage License. 16- To know all aspects of the Turkish National Education system, the teaching profession and the field of educational sciences; To know Ataturk's Principles and Revolutions.
