Muğla Vocational School Programme of Computer Technologies and Programming (Distance Education)

Qualification Awarded

Associate degree. Students who graduate from the Computer Programming program award the title of Computer Technician.

Specific Admission Requirements

In order to accept students to higher education, they must have taken the country-wide Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS). The Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) is administered once a year by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in departments in Higher Education Institutions according to the score obtained from the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) and their high school grade point averages.

Qualification Requirements

In order to obtain an associate degree in computer science, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (a total of 120 ECTS) and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Prior education of students who have studied at another Higher Education Institution before is recognized within the framework of "Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations" determined by the Higher Education Council. Certification or experience-based (in-formal/non-formal) learning is currently not recognized outside of formal education institutions.However, Foreign Language (English, German, French etc.), Turkish Language and Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution are included in all higher education programs. Exemption Exam is held for the courses at the beginning of each academic term.Students who think that they meet the expected qualifications from these courses have the right to take the exams.Students who pass the exam and pass the exam are exempted from the relevant courses in the curriculum.

History

Muğla Vocational School, Department of Computer Technologies Our Computer Programming Program was opened in 1994 under the name of Computer Programming Program in the Department of Technical Programs and started its educational activities in 1995. Over the years, our program has continued its Educational activities under different names such as Computer Operator and Technician, Computer Technician and Programming, and still continues its Education-Training activities under the name of Computer Technologies Department Computer Programming. In addition, Distance Education Program was opened under the same name in 2012 under our department. Our program accepts a total of 175 students, 50 for regular education, 50 for secondary education, and 75 for distance education.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the program is to train intermediate staff in the technical field for public and private sector enterprises. It is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to use technology as well as basic professional knowledge during their education period.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

For each course given, at least one midterm and final exam is given. In addition, quizzes and homework evaluation can also be done. The effect of midterm exams, short-term exams and homework on the success grade is 40%, and the final exam is 60% (visa for distance education program: 20% final exam: 80%). In this evaluation; The instructor of the course takes into account the statistical results of the students taking the course from the midterm and final exams, and the grades received are converted into a 4-letter system within the framework of the principles determined in the regulation. A student who receives AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades from a course is deemed to have succeeded in that course. DC and DD grades from a course are evaluated depending on the student's graduation CGPA. The student's AGNO is the grade of the success dam (2, 00) these courses are defined as successful. In mid-terms/years, these letter grades are evaluated with their coefficients in the calculation of AGNO. A student who receives an FF grade is unsuccessful, and has to take this course in the first semester/year and fulfill the attendance and exam requirements. Courses appreciated with MM and GG grades are not included in the evaluation in calculating AGNO.

Graduation Requirements

In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all the courses available in the program, to achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Students graduating from this program can work in the design, installation, operation, technical service, software and web design companies of information technologies and infrastructure of all public and private institutions and organizations, especially communication and financial institutions; They can work as technicians, technical support specialists, systems specialists, sales specialists, software specialists and middle-level managers.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their Associate Degree education can study in undergraduate programs provided that they get a valid grade from the DGS exam.
