Qualification Awarded
Students who have successfully completed all the courses in the 2-year education plan and who have at least 120 ECTS are given an associate degree in the field of Environmental Protection and Control. They have the title of Environmental Technician.
Specific Admission Requirements
Students who wish to enroll in the department must complete the procedures determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) within the framework of the academic and legal regulations of the university. A student who has started his / her education in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad may apply for transfer. The acceptance of the students is examined before the beginning of the semester, taking into consideration the conditions and the degree of application of each student.
Qualification Requirements
In order to graduate from the programme, the students should complete 120 ECTS course work, including required and elective, succesfuly and should have a 2.00 Grand Point Average (GPA) minimum out of 4.00.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Candidates for the introduction of Environmental Protection and Control Program have completed the equivalent secondary education in Turkey or abroad must have received an education. For transfer, they must meet the requirements stated in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Undergraduate-Associate Regulations. Candidates may be exempted from these courses if the content and credit of the courses previously taken in another institution are appropriate for the content and credit of the courses and approved by the directorate of our school.
History
The program took its first students in the 2013-2014 academic year. Students who graduate from the department make a vertical transition to undergraduate programs with an average success rate of 20%.
Profile of the Programme
Goal:
Students will be able to analyze the problems related to the environment with health, social and cultural aspects and to show the most appropriate methods to solve these problems. The aim of this course is to educate technical staff who can fulfill the requirements of the regulations related to the developing technology and the pollution caused, to prepare work, to design, to produce and to control in the usage, treatment, recovery, storage, transportation and inspection units of our country according to the environmental standards.
Target:
Students will be able to interpret and evaluate the data by using the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field of mathematics, science and related fields, identify problems, develop professional plans and projects and develop solutions. To be able to use the techniques, tools and information technologies necessary for applications related to the field, to produce solutions to unforeseen problems encountered in applications, to take responsibility in working groups or to work individually, to communicate effectively and to follow the innovations in the field. educate
Also; knowledge of occupational safety, worker health, environmental protection and environmental management systems, which respects historical and social values, socially responsible, universal, social values ??and professional ethic consciousness, with the awareness of the necessity of lifelong learning, follows the developments in science and technology and renews itself continuously to educate competent individuals who have the skill of applying for the profession by following the work done in the industry and service sector.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Exams; mid-term, final exam, make-up exam, make-up exam, exemption exam and single course exam. Midterm Exams: At least one mid-term exam is given for the courses opened in each semester. Final Examinations: At the end of the semester, students are expected to determine the success of the courses. In the determination of the student's course grade, the general application for the contributions of the exams is 40% of the score taken in the midterm exam and 60% of the score taken in the final exam evaluation. However, the contributions of midterm and final exams to the course notes can be determined by the instructors who conduct the courses at different rates. Make-up Exams: Students who cannot take the mid-term or the final exams due to a valid excuse are given the right to excuse examination by the relevant board of directors.The student has applied to the dean's office / directorate within 3 days from the day of his / her excuse by making a petition based on the excuse for the acceptance of the excuse exam for the student. Make-up exams: Students are required to take the FD or FF grade at the end of the final exams and take the DD or DC grade and take the make-up exams. The grade taken in the make-up exam replaces the final exam grade of the course. The contribution amounts of the midterm exams and make-up exams are calculated as in the final exams. In the courses that take the make-up exam, the last success grade is taken as a basis regardless of the previous grade. Exemption Examinations: The courses determined by the Senate are made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Single Course Exam: Students who have fulfilled the continuation requirement for their graduation and who fail only one course can take one course exam from the failed course. The Relative Evaluation System was put into force by the Senate Decision dated 29 August 2012 and numbered 465/11, according to the provisions of the Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations 46.
Graduation Requirements
To complete the program at the end of the academic year must be done or after the completion of the program does not have a final exam or final exam period. However, at the end of each semester, there are usually two-week term exams after the end of the semester. In addition, for graduation, the student must have a successful internship in private sector or public institutions for 40 working days. Although the internship is a prerequisite for graduation, the program is also not credited with 7 ECTS credits. The experience and necessary workload to be obtained by the internship are taken into consideration in the content, application and working workloads of the related courses within the program.
When the program is successfully completed and program qualifications are achieved, the associate degree in the field of Environmental Protection and Control is obtained.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the program graduate with Environmental Technician title. The graduates can also take place in the positions of Environmental Health Technician in KPSS appointments.
Students who graduated from the Environmental Protection and Control Program;
learns the use of measuring instruments and plant operating equipment, laboratory instruments and devices, methods of analyzing environmental parameters and data collection, Bureau tools, machinery and materials used in air pollution, noise pollution, solid waste pollution, drinking water and wastewater treatment. Graduated students who have the above mentioned professional equipment have the opportunity to find employment in the environmental, environmental and administrative units of the municipalities and private sector representatives in various units related to the environment connected to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and various ministries. Environmental technicians are able to work in the areas of employment, especially in laboratories. Environmental technicians are in contact with the environment, construction, chemical engineers and technicians, health personnel, city planners and volunteer environmental organizations.
Access to Further Studies
Environment Technician can pass to the Bachelor degree programme’s based on Vertical Transition Exam (DGS) and graduation GPA score. Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry can accept environment programme graduates.
