Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates who apply for a PhD program must have have a graduate degree with a Master of Science in Guidance and Psychological Counseling and Psychological Counseling. The applicants must have atThe applicants must have at least 3.00/4.00 master graduation score. The applicants must have at least 70 points in Turkish-Maths tests in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam Result (ALES). The applicants must have at least 70 points in foreign language exams like YÖKDİL, YDS. In addition, candidates who are at least 60 or higher in the graduate entrance exam are taken into consideration.

Qualification Requirements

Graduate graduation criterion is at least 240 ECTS.

Recognition of Prior Learning

To have licence and master degree in Counseling Psychology and Guidance Program.

History

Graduate programme started to accept students in 2015-2016 fall term.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the doctorate program is to provide the student with the ability to conduct independent research, to expand and deepen scientific knowledge, as well as to independently perceive, design, implement and conclude a research process on an original subject with scientific respect. In this context, the aim of our program is to grasp the place of himself and his profession in social development and adopt the scientific way of thinking; To raise innovative, qualified and competent individuals who are mindful of the public interests, who have expert knowledge and who can take an active role in increasing the effectiveness of education. Program Outcomes

1- Develops a professional identity in the field of Guidance and Counseling and complies with ethical guidelines required by the profession
2- Knows the legal rights related to the field of Guidance and Counselling and assumes the responsibilities required of the profession.
3- Follows the developments related to the field of Guidance and Counselling principles and aims a lifelong learning.
4- Analysis needs for Guidance and Counseling services for organizations.
5- Develops documents and questionnaires to be used for guidance and counseling services.
6- Has critical, scientific and analytical thinking skills.
7- Has a sensitivity and awareness required by the Guidance and Counseling department.
8- Respects individual differences and accepts them unconditionally in applications of the field.
9- Has the skills and awareness to help individuals about discovering, understanding and accepting themselves.
10- Analysis individuals' personal, professional, educational and developmental needs and considers them in practice.
11- Has researching, observation, presentation and report writing skills related to the field of Guidance and Counselling.
12- Uses techniques and strategies while helping individuals for their understanding and discovering process.
13- Be able to produce effective crisis intervention against sudden and unexpected problems.
14- Participates in activities and practices related to the field of Guidance and Counselling with an awareness of social responsibility.
15- Knows his/her own limits related his/her profession and considers these points in the application of professional.
16- Takes responsibility for Counseling and Guidance on the application area.
17- Compares the similarities and differences on the basis of theoretical perspectives related to different disciplines of behavioral science.
18- Examines evidences about a problem using scientific methods and develops recommendations based on that research.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Study areas of the program Graduates of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling doctorate program can work in education, health, justice, security, social service institutions and organizations, guidance and research centers and university psychological counseling centers. In addition, they can take part in human resources management and in-service training units in workplaces belonging to various public and private sectors.
