Recognition of Prior Learning

Students graduated from differents programs will be forced to get relevant courses in differents levels according to the suggestions of their advisor.

History

Master of science degree programme in physics has started in 1996 – 1997 academic year under Mugla Sitki Kocman University, Institue of Natural and Applied Sciences.

Profile of the Programme

Our graduates can serve in various organizations and companies, in research and development laboratories and at any place that measurement and physical analysis are necessary. In addition, PhD programs are available for those who aim to become a scientist or to specialize in certain areas of physics, including semiconductor and magnetic materials, atomic and molecular physics, and matematical physics.

Program Outcomes

1- To have deep physics knowledge among condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics and high energy physics.
2- To be a desired researcher in industry who has international experience, experimental and theoretical knowledge.
3- To gain knowledge that is required to follow current developments in physics either national or international.
4- To improve own scientific background in physics, to be able to see, interpret and analyse physical problems.
5- To be able to suggest new physical problems with creative and innovator thinking.
6- To put forth availability of own knowledge and experience in order to solve physical problems.
7- To produce scientific publications and to carry on advanced research either national or international.
8- To be able to work in groups either disciplinary or interdisciplinary.
9- To have knowledge that maintains to establish Industry – University cooperation.
10- To have principles and experiences of working in advanced research procjects resourced by national and international sources such as framework programme, etc.
11- To scan literature , to give presentation, to be able to prepare and perform experimental set up and interpret their results.
12- To have scientific and professional ethics and to defend this mentality everywhere.
13- To be able to improve yourself by following innovations in physics that is important for development of science and technology.
14- To present own findings of advanced research in conference, symposium and congress either national or international and especially to publish them in SCI journal.
15- To equip yourself with knowledge on photovoltaics and sun energy systems and to give contribution to provide energy need in the World as well as in Turkey.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exam regulations, assesment and grading obey Mugla Sitki Kocman University “Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Exam Regulation”.

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to enroll 48 ECTS credits of the relevant courses and get 2.00 (over 4.00) grades in average, for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Gratuated physicists can be deployed by National Education Ministry (NEM: MEB) as a physics teacher in the case of having teacher certificate and required KPSS score or by training center or private school. They can take various positions in computer sector. Graduate students can obtain work chances in university or other similar various corporations as an academician or researcher. Also, many public and private organisations can deploy as a technical employee such as quality control laboratories, TÜBİTAK, TAEK, TELEKOM, MTA, MKE and DSİ.

Access to Further Studies

Students who are graduated from MSc in Physics will start PhD programs if they have enough english level and enough points from ALES.
