Qualification Awarded

A Bachelor's degree in Coaching specific to their field A long with coaching certification at various levels determined by the respective federations and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Turkey.

Specific Admission Requirements

Department of Coaching Education students with special aptitude exams are held every year. Candidates Transition to Higher Education İnstitutions Exam (YKS) have to take. The Department of Coaching Education admits those students who have passed the Special Talent Exam successfully and achieved adequate athleticism and skills.

Qualification Requirements

The students of the Coaching Education Department must complete a total of 60 courses including 47 Compulsory and 13 Elective during their studies. The total ECTS of the courses taken by the students is 240.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The lessons in the university where the student has previously studied with his / her application are assessed by the Compliance Committee, which is established by the Department, in terms of course content and course hours.

History

Founding process of the Faculty of Sport Sciences has been completed when the Council of Minister decision numbered 95/7044was promulgated in the official gazette dated 21 July 1995 and numbered 22350. The Department of Coaching Education was founded within the Faculty of Sport Sciences in 2002.

Profile of the Programme

The main objective of this department is to provide education for students who wish to become qualified trainers and sports coaches. Graduates receive a trainer certificate along with their degree and may be employed by public or private organisations related to their profession, as well as by the General Office of Youth and Sports.

Program Outcomes

1- Knows the concepts related to coaching education and associates them with different disciplines.
2- He/She can effectively use facilities, equipment, other equipment and training technologies related to the specialty sports branch, according to the purpose.
3- Contributes to the development of the infrastructure of sports, acquires the necessary information for training athletes at national and international level.
4- Can measure and evaluate performance, use talent selection, competition analysis and statistical methods.
5- Can make short and long-term training plans and adapt them to changing conditions.
6- Have effective communication skills with all stakeholders related to the coaching profession. Monitors and evaluates the events/developments on the agenda of the society and the world.
7- Evaluates the advanced knowledge and skills acquired in the fields related to the coaching profession with a critical approach.
8- She/He contributes to the development of the infrastructure of sports, has the experience of working with other disciplines in training athletes at national and international level.
9- Have the ability to work effectively, efficiently and with ethical principles with other professionals and other disciplines interacting.
10- He/she uses information and communication technologies together with computer software with at least the European Computer License Advanced Level required by his/her field.
11- Follows the information in the field and communicates with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B1 General Level.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The assessment consists of midterm and final exams, supplemented by other activities such as assignments, portfolios, etc., depending on the nature of the course. The contribution percentages of each exam (with the condition that the final exam is at least 50%) are determined according to the percentile range specified by the instructor at the beginning of the term.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduate students of the Department of Coaching Education have an opportunity to work as a coach or coach assistant at the Amateur and Professional Sport Clubs, Youth and Sport General Directorate or Schools under Ministry of National Education. In addition, they can also be employed in private sectors such as tourism or gym.

Mode of Study

1. Application of universal knowledge and concepts related to Coaching Education to professions within the framework of international standards 2. Coaches can continue their profession by mastering training science, physiology, performance, athlete nutrition, physical fitness of athletes, and competition analysis from a contemporary perspective. 3. Producing projects and solutions with an innovative perspective 4. Organizing activities that can meet the needs and demands of the society by directing them to physical activity with social responsibility awareness. 5. Playing a role in transferring sports culture to society and future generations
