Physical Education And Sports Teacher

Specific Admission Requirements

Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department admits students with a special talent exam held every year. Candidates are required to take the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) and be in the first 800,000 rankings. Students who will choose the Department of Physical Education and Sports are required to have a well-equipped curriculum vitae, a good level of physical fitness, and sufficient athletic structure and skills, since students are admitted with a special talent exam for the program.

Qualification Requirements

The higher education level QF-EHEA: 1. level The higher education level EQF-LLL: 6. level The proficiency level of higher education is at the 4th level and the license is 240 ECTS. The higher education vocational proficiency is 240 ECTS. 1 ECTS = 30 hours and at the end of 4 years total workload has 240 ECTS and 6000-7200

Recognition of Prior Learning

If the student applies on the dates announced in the academic calendar, the courses at the university he/she studied before are evaluated by the Student Affairs Commission by looking at the course content and course ECTS credits.

History

Within the body of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, the Department of Physical Education and Sports Education was first established under the roof of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, with the approval of the Higher Education Council on January 12, 1995. Afterwards, with the decision of the Council of Ministers published in the Official Gazette No. 22350 on 25 July 1995, the School of Physical Education and Sports was established and the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching was affiliated to the High School. The School of Physical Education and Sports was closed with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 26.01.2015 and the Faculty of Sports Sciences was established with the same decision. In this context, the Department of Physical Education and Sports has been continuing its educational activities since 2015 under the Faculty of Sports Sciences.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching is to train qualified physical education and sports teachers in the schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. Teacher candidates for this purpose; general culture, theoretical and applied field knowledge and teaching profession knowledge. They observe, attend the classes and practice teaching to transfer and use the knowledge and skills they gained from the courses they take within the scope of the program. At the end of four years; specializing in subjects such as making lesson plans, realizing teaching-learning process, measuring and evaluating, student recognition, cooperation, professional development, classroom management, communication and providing sports culture.

Program Outcomes

1-	Learns the concepts and relationships between concepts related to physical education and sports teaching.

2-	Graduates discuss the methods related to the production of knowledge in physical education and sports education.

3-	Graduates have the knowledge of teaching programs, strategies, methods and techniques, measurement and evaluation related to physical education and sports education.

4-	Graduates interpret the measurement results made to determine the students' movement development and make feedback.

5-	Graduates use advanced sources of information about physical education and sports teaching.

6-	Graduates can conceptualize the events and facts in the field of physical education and sports teaching, examine, analyze and evaluate with scientific methods.

7-	Graduates define and analyze problems in physical education and sports education and offer scientific solutions.

8-	Graduates take responsibility in individual / group works in the field of physical education and sports and perform the task effectively.

9-	Graduates evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of physical education and sports with a critical approach.

10-	Graduate develop a positive approach for learning all lifelong.

11-	Graduates inform the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports on issues related to the field and can convey their thoughts and solutions to problems in written and verbally.

12-	With the awareness of social responsibility, Graduates can organize and implement projects and activities for his social environment.

13-	Graduates follows the information in the field and communicate with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio B1.

14-	Graduates use advanced information and communication technologies of the European Computer Driving License.

15-	Acts in accordance with democracy, human rights, social, scientific and professional ethical values.

16-	Graduates have sufficient awareness about the universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture and protection of cultural values, environmental protection, occupational health and safety.

17-	Graduates provide personal and corporate interaction for the safety and sustainability of the environments in which physical education and sports classes are held.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The assessment and evaluation methods applied for each course are described in detail in the "Assessment System" tables prepared by the relevant faculty members and included in the Information package. Regarding exams and course grades, the relevant articles of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations are applied.

Graduation Requirements

In order to obtain the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Bachelor's degree, it is necessary to complete 240 ECTS and to have a general academic average of at least 2.00 according to the quaternary system.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching can work as instructors or duties in the Physical Education and Sports Programs of the Ministry of National Education, Physical Education Teacher Training in the affiliated schools, taking the certificate of coaching from the related federations, Training Center and other units of Youth Sports General Directorate and others.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed undergraduate education in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching can study at post-graduate programs with grades taken from science exams providing Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education (ALES).

Mode of Study

1) To train teachers who can organize lesson plans and learning environments in accordance with the teaching of Physical Education and Sports, use materials and resources suitable for teaching processes, and evaluate the outputs of these processes with appropriate measurement and evaluation tools, 2) To train teachers who transfer the concepts of physical education and sports to a physically active life and who will set an example for their students with this lifestyle, 3) To train teachers who have the knowledge to provide basic education in different sports branches, 4) To raise individuals who accept that physical education and sports are one of the basic elements of our national unity and integrity, 5) To train teachers who can critically evaluate the existing theoretical and practical information about physical education and sports and who can develop and use this information in a way that will contribute to the maturation of the knowledge and manners of the people in the regions where they work, 6) To provide basic skills related to physical education and sports by effectively benefiting from today's technologies and different teaching methods,
