Bachelor's degree in Recreation

Specific Admission Requirements

1. To have graduated from secondary education institutions or foreign secondary education institutions whose equivalence is approved by the Ministry of National Education and to have met the conditions for admission to undergraduate programs of higher education institutions. 2. To have received sufficient points as a result of the central examination conducted by ÖSYM for the programs of higher education institutions that accept students through special talent examination, the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK, and to have passed the special talent examination. 3. As a result of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM, the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK, associate degree graduates are placed in undergraduate programs that are a continuation of the fields they have completed in higher education institutions.

Qualification Requirements

In order for the student to be accepted as having completed his/her education and graduated, he/she must meet the conditions specified in Article 28 of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulation. In order to obtain the Recreation Bachelor's degree, it is necessary to complete 240 ECTS by taking all the courses prescribed by the program and obtain a general academic average of at least 2.00 according to the quadrature system.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Upon the student's own application, the courses at the university where he/she has previously studied are evaluated in terms of course content and credits by the Adjustment Commission formed by the Department Head. Courses deemed appropriate are counted towards courses in the Recreation Department Program.

History

The Recreation Department, which was established in 2000 within the School of Physical Education and Sports, still continues its formal education at the Faculty of Sports Sciences.

Profile of the Programme

In the field of recreation education, including culture, art, physical exercise and sports activities, as a social science and service field, it is to train "recreation graduates" who are physically competent to adapt to mobility, have strong communication skills, are contemporary, and follow technological developments. For this purpose, students are equipped with knowledge and skills for foreign languages, information technologies, recreation businesses and tourism businesses.

Program Outcomes

1- Knows the basic concepts related to recreation area, follows and uses current developments
2- Know the basic skills, rules, techniques and principles necessary to perform physical activities, individual and team sports and cultural and artistic activities that can be used in recreation organizations, recognize and use the physical environment, tools and technologies that will be used in these activities.
3- It recognizes and uses information and communication technologies necessary for the planning and evaluation of recreation services.
4- Considering individual differences and environmental opportunities, the production of recreation services for all segments of society, management processes of analysis, planning, implementation, evaluation and re-enables editing.
5- In different disciplines associated with the Recreation Area (Tourism, local governments, therapy, education, etc.) have up-to-date knowledge of concepts, theories, principles and practices.
6- It follows the services of organizations serving in the field of recreation and works in cooperation with these organizations or independently.
7- It uses a foreign language at least at the general level of the European language portfolio B1 when providing recreation services at the international level.
8- It critically evaluates the knowledge and skills acquired in relation to recreation services and strives to renew and continuously improve its knowledge in its field by adopting a lifelong learning approach.
9- It adopts standards defined as a profession in the field of recreation and socially accepted ethical values.
10- Have innovative and entrepreneurial skills by following current developments in national and international level related to recreation services.
11- It has interpersonal and intercultural communication and group work skills to provide recreation services effectively.
12- It takes into account human health, social and natural environment, makes Occupational Safety and risk assessment while realizing its recreation expertise.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in detail in the "Assessment Criteria" field prepared by the relevant faculty members and included in the Information package. Measurement and evaluation consists of midterm and final exams, in addition to these, other activities (homework, portfolio, etc.) can be added depending on the nature of the course. Contribution rates for each exam (provided that the final exam is at least 50%) are determined according to the percentage determined by the relevant instructor at the beginning of the semester. Regarding exams and course success grades, articles 19 and 20 of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations and other relevant articles are applied. Graduation Requirements

Recreation department students must successfully complete 49 courses, 33 compulsory and 16 elective, throughout their education. The total number of ECTS courses that Recreation Department students will take during their 4-year education for graduation is 240.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Recreation Department graduates work as physical activity specialists in public (municipalities, schools, youth centers, etc.) and private sector outdoor (paragliding, kitesurfing, rafting, skiing, etc.) and indoor (fitness/sports centers, etc.) recreation areas and private sports clubs. They can work as recreation specialists or recreation leaders.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education in the Department of recreation can study in graduate programs with the grades obtained from the science exam, provided that they receive a valid grade from the Academic Staff and graduate education (ALES) exam.

Mode of Study

Attaching importance to ethical rules, knowing the meaning and characteristics of the concepts of recreation, time and free time, having sufficient skills in adaptation to daily life, which is the basic function of recreation, improving the quality of life, leisure satisfaction and wellness level, and being able to understand the relationship and benefits of recreation and other areas, Able to prepare recreation programs for free time, plan creative activity programs according to age groups, understand the importance of recreation leadership and management, lead all age groups, know how to protect the health and safety of the group they serve, have knowledge, skills and equipment in recreation management, have the ability to live an active life To train recreation experts who are committed to the principle, who can follow the scientific and technological developments in the world in the field of recreation they are concerned with, who can interpret the results and put them into practice, and who can work in collaboration with universities or research units as researchers. For this purpose, students are equipped with knowledge and skills for foreign languages, information technologies, recreation businesses and tourism businesses.
