Qualification Awarded
The students graduated from Department of Chemistry and Chemical Processing Technologies Program of Chemistry Technology are awarded "Chemistry Technician" title. Students graduated from this department have a lot of business in factories in chemistry related fields. They also have the possibility of being public servants in the public sector.
Specific Admission Requirements
To have the minimum score determined for the Department of Undergraduate Placement Exam.
Qualification Requirements
In order to obtain a pre-bachelor degree in the field of alternative energy resources, students must successfully complete the compulsory and optional all courses (total of 120 ECTS) required to be taken in the program and average grade must be 2.0 out of 4.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Prior education of students who have previously studied at another Higher Education Institution has been determined by the Council of Higher Education, " Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Pre-Bachelor and Bachelor Education-Training Regulation". However, exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic term for the Foreign Language (English, German, French, etc.) courses that are included in all of the higher education programs. Students who think they have the qualifications expected from these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who enter and succeed in the examination are exempted from the relevant courses in the course schedule.
History
Muğla Vocational School, Departmentt of Chemistry and Chemical Processing Technology Chemistry Technology Programme has started training in 2017-2018 academic year and is still being continued. The programme has a quota of 40 students. In the chemistry technology program, the curriculum provides basic concepts that should be known in chemistry field, as well as being educated in a scientific environment by using the advantages of the organized education and teaching and acquiring the vocational skills. In the field of lectures, special lecturers and instructors handle and practice in detail. In addition, technical visits are made within the lectures and current applications are shown to the students on the spot. In addition to this, a modern learning environment is provided by using the possibilities provided by technology (computer, slide, video). In chemistry technology programme, there are 1 assistant professor and 2 lecturers. The instructors are engaged in scientific research besides their studies, publishing their works in international and national journals, and participating in national and international congresses and symposiums related to their fields.
Profile of the Programme
The aim of the chemistry technology program is to develop qualified intermediate personnel who are able to turn their knowledge and experiences into practical applications in this field and who have acquired professional qualifications necessary for social and technological innovations in terms of open, productive, entrepreneurial, environmentally friendly, scientific and technological developments.
Program Outcomes
1- |
To define the science of chemistry and to have the knowledge of chemical concepts and applications |
2- |
To be aware of laboratory safety issues, to know the general laboratory materials and to know the use of laboratory materials |
3- |
To be able to observe information and developments in the chemical sector using at least one foreign language |
4- |
To know the classification of chemical raw materials, for what purpose, for what products to use, what properties to carry |
5- |
To be aware of the basic principles of the devices and machines in a chemical plant |
6- |
Having the ability to use basic mathematical methods in producing solutions. |
7- |
To analyze in laboratory using different analysis methods (chemical, instrumental and sensory), to evaluate the results |
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
At least one midterm exam and a final exam are scheduled for each course given. The score of success is 40% for midterm exam and 60% for final exam. In this assessment, the course instructor takes into account the statistical results of the scores of the students taking the courses from the midterm and final exams and the notes taken are converted to a 4-letter system within the framework of the regulations. A student who receives one of the grades AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades is considered successful. The DC and DD grades taken from a course are evaluated according to the graduate weighted average grade of the student. If the weighted grade point average of the student is above the success grade (2.00), these courses are defined as successful. In the interim years / years, this letter grade is evaluated by the coefficients in the calculation of the weighted general grade averages. The student who receives the FF grade is unsuccessful. Courses with achievement grade MM and GG do not participate in the evaluation of weighted grade point average calculation.
Graduation Requirements
Minimum graduation credit required to graduate from this program; It is 120 ECTS including 90 compulsory and 30 elective. 30 working days internship is obligatory including 15 working days 2nd Year / 3. Semester, 15 working days 2nd Year / 4th semester.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Students who graduate from this department will be able to work in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, cleaning, petroleum, petrochemical, energy, textile, soil, metal, leather, health, mine, construction, glass, rubber, rubber, cement, paper, automotive, and so on. There is also the possibility of being a public servant in the Technical Services Class in the public sector.
Access to Further Studies
Students who have graduated from the program and those who have fulfilled the graduation requirements outside of the internship in the last semester can transfer to the undergraduate program by vertical transfer examination (DGS). The undergraduate programs that can be transferred with DGS are chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, material engineering, polymer engineering, chemistry and process engineering, fiber and polymer engineering.
