Qualification Requirements
To obtain a degree in aviation management, students must succeed all of the required and elective courses (totally equivalent to 240 ECTS) and grade point average must be minimum 2,00 over 4,00.
Recognition of Prior Learning
For Computer and English Courses, which take part in the education plan of Department of Aviation Management in Dalaman School of Civil Aviation of Muğla Sitki Kocman University, exemption exam is handled at the beginning of every academic term. The students who peforms the learning outcomes, expected for the courses, have the right to take the exam. The students who succeed in this exam are exempted from the related courses in the program list. The students who are registered to the Dalaman School of Civil Aviation of Mugla Sitki Kocman University for the first time, in case of application in the first week of academic year, the credits and final grades received in previous higher education department/program are transferred to the related department and program by board decision. The number of terms equaled to these courses are calculated by considering the total credits of the courses affirmed and the term credits of the department that the student is re gistered. This period is reduced from education period limit defined in the 44th article of law and the term, which is going to be acclimated, is defined by board decision.
History
Founding process of Dalaman School of Civil Aviation has been completed when the council of minister decision numbered 2012/3979 was promulgated in the official gazette dated 20/12/2012 and numbered 28503. Department of Aviation Management started education-teaching by taking students for 2017-2018 academic year for the first time.
Profile of the Programme
The program is aimed at raising the qualified human resources required by the state and private institutions in international direction parallel to the developing aviation sector. Within the program, students will be able to take advantage of the sector with the vocational courses such as Airline Management, Airport Management, Flight Performance and Planning, Aviation Safety and Security, Ground Services, Passenger Services, Dangerous Materials and the theoretical courses on business management such as Marketing Management, Human Resources Management and Logistics Management are also given. Forty students are admitted to the Department of Aviation Management through centralized placement. In our school, Foreign Language Preparatory Education is given in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Kötekli campus (Central Campus) within the quota determined by the School of Foreign Languages. The department offers a four-year undergraduate education after the optional English language preparatory course. The elective internship period is thirty working days.
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Exams consist of mid-terms, final exams, excuse exams, repeat exams, exemption exams and one course exam. Excuse exams:If a student has a valid excuse for the mid-term or final exams, related board allow for excuse exams. For the excuse exams, student must submit a petition, which explains the excuse, in 3 days to deanship/ management. Moreover, the excuse should be approved by related board. Repeat exams:Students may take repeat exams for the courses, which are graded as FD or FF that they fail and which are graded as DD or DC that they pass, at the end of term. The point of a repeat exam substitutes for the final point of that course. The percentages of mid-term and repeat exams are assessed in the same way as final exams. For the repeat exams, final point is considered regardless of what was graded before. Exemption exams:Exemption exams are set for the courses defined by the senate on the specified dates in academic calender. One course exams:They are for the students who failed in one course and will graduate in case of succeeding in that course. Moreover, the students may take one course exam to increase their own average score, although they succeed all of the courses in the program, for the reason that they cannot graduate due to grade point average is less than 2,00. To take one course exam for graduation, a petition should be given to the head of department. One can take this exam only once. For every course, students are graded at the end of the term as below by the lecturer of the course. The studentsare graded as “TT” if they are absent in the courses and/or applied courses. The students, who succeed in Foreign Language Proficiency Exam, are exempt from the required foreign courses (English, German, French) and graded as “MM”. The students who succeed in Preparatory Foreign Language Program and internship graded as “GG”. The students who fail in Preparatory Foreign Language Program and internship graded as “KK”. For the courses which are abolished from the education program are graded as “VV” with the proposal of head of department and with the decision of board
Graduation Requirements
Students must succeed all of the courses exist in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS) and grade point average must be minimum 2,00 over 4,00 and complete the internship training.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates will be able to be employed by THY, other private airline companies, airports, logistics and catering companies, Ministry of Transport, Republic of Turkey Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Republic of Turkey General Directorate Of State Airports Authority, Ground Service Companies, Air Force.
Access to Further Studies
The students who succeed in bachelor level further in his postgraduate with thesis or non-thesis, in formal or evening education and distance education in case they succeed in Academic Postgraduate Exam, have sufficient English level and succeed in the exams offered by related institutions.
