Specific Admission Requirements

To apply to PhD programme, students should be graduated from a Master Programme, have adequate ALES and be successful at scientific exam.

Qualification Requirements

Students should take all the required courses and complete 240 ECTS.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions.

History

Muğla University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Public Administration Department was established in 1993, after a two-year preparation period, it began its active education and training by accepting students in 1995-1996 education-training year. Later, the Second Education programme was opened in 2001-2002 education-training year and at the same term students were accepted to that programme. Currently, the department continues its educational activities both in First and Second Education Programmes.

Profile of the Programme

The Department of Public Administration aims to provide knowledge required by contemporary politics and administration science to undergraduate and graduate students who will need the provided education after graduating to work in their own areas. On the other hand, the department aims to bring the modern education and study culture, contribution to the production of knowledge, participatory, collaborativeness to students. In this context, it is primarily aimed to make our students respectful individuals to national and universal values and preferred persons with their education, training and research quality at regional and country level, with the principle of teamwork, oriented to solve country's and region's problems. The students who graduate from our department is encouraged to have knowledge, skill and motivation to be successful in private sector as well as in public sector and in this context to improve their knowledge thorough lifelong learning practices.

Program Outcomes

1- Obtain profoundly knowledge about political science, administration science, law and theory and practice of environmental problems.
2- Develop the obtained knowledge at Master of Science level about political science, administration, urbanization, environmental problems and law branches through original thinking and research to a expertise level.
3- Expand the frontiers of knowledge in the area through publishing at least one scientific article at national and/or international refereed journals and/or through interpreting or producing a original work.
4- Apply, analyze and interpret the concepts and approaches obtained in political science and administration comparatively and interdisciplinary at national and international levels.
5- Take the lead in the areas in which it is required to solve interdisciplinary problems about public administration branch.
6- Evaluate critically the problems in political science areas state at national and local levels, democracy and civil society relations.
7- Take responsibility in accordance with the aims of the project as a project manager or a participant.
8- Indicate the willingness to be in a search for innovation in the areas of political science, administration science, law, urbanization and environmental problems.
9- Have adequate consciousness about rule of law and its universality, justice, equity, human rights and citizenship, health and environmental values.
10- Apply the concepts and approaches learned about urbanization and environment to solving of the local, national and international problems.
11- Executes effectively and analyzes the relationship with the internal and external stakeholders in the public administration area.
12- Communicate verbally and in writing and search for new developments in the areas of political science, public administration, law, urbanization and environmental problems by using a foreign language.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Every student must enroll in the beginning of the semester courses and attend at least 70% of the courses in order to take the end-of-term exam. Students are subjected to at least one midterm exam, final exam and unsuccessful students take a make-up exam for each course. The contribution to the success grade is 50% in the midterm exam and 50% in the final exam. Success in all exams over 100 points. The final exam grade is required to be at least 70. Students who get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) in a course are considered successful in that course.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate form PhD programme, students should take 240 ECTS and defence PhD Thesis.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduate students have various job opportunities in public sector, banks and private sector. They can also work as academic staffs at universities
