Profile of the Programme

Program Outcomes

1- To discuss and interpret sociological theories and concepts, and to be able to relate them analytically.
2- To gain certain theoretical and methodological knowledge in his/her fields of interests to guide his/her academical progress.
3- To have advanced knowledge of the theoretical and methodological foundations of sociology, and to be able to explain the social world using classical, modern and/or postmodern theories.
4- To have knowledge about the epistemological origins of scientific research method and techniques in order to be able to design the process of gaining scientific knowledge and to use the relevant techniques.
5- To be able to problematize social facts, and to be able to discuss the necessary sociological approaches on a conceptual level.
6- To have a good grasp of multidisciplinary approach, thereby being able to establish interdisciplinary relations, and using it in relation with other social disciplines like history, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, economy, and political science.
7- To be able to question the power relations that are dispersed within social and cultural life, to have the ability to think critically about social problems.
8- To be able to use sociological knowledge in daily life; to be able to have a critical, participatory and democratic attitude and stance towards social problems.
9- To develop a consciousness and sensitivity towards human rights, social justice, inequality, environment, gender, and cultural values.
10- To be able to produce scientific knowledge that is free from prejudice and othering.
11- To be able to analyze contemporary social facts, social change and mobility.
12- To be able to develop diverse and critical approaches towards social facts in academic life within ethical principles.
13- To be able to produce scientific knowledge using different sources of data; to be able to share the resulting knowledge through text and speech.
14- To be able use one foreign language at least at the B2 level of European Language Portfolio for written and spoken communication.
15- To be able to use information and communication technologies at an advanced level, along with the software necessary for his /her field.
