Qualification Awarded

Students of the Social Work Program are eligible to receive an associate degree after successfully completing their course and fulfilling other requirements.

Specific Admission Requirements

Examination of Higher Education Institutions (LDS) The first session of the Basic Competence Test (DMR) in the preferred result made according to the results of student intake will be held all over Turkey. A student who has started his / her education in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad may apply for transfer.

Qualification Requirements

In order to obtain a associate degree in Social Work, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses (120 ECTS credits in total) and obtain a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Previously, in another Higher Education Institution, students have the right to request the recognition of their completed education. For the students who have studied, the prior learning is determined by the Higher Education Council's Kurulu Transition between Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions Lisans, Düzey Regulation on the Fundamentals of Interbank Credit Transfer with Double Major, Lisans Bachelor's Degree in Education Regulations. In order to recognize the new enrollment of the students, they must present their transcripts and course contents to the relevant department within the first week of the enrollment year. However, at the beginning of each academic semester, an Exemption Exam is held for the Foreign Language (English, German, French et al.), Turkish Language, Atatürk Principles and History of Revolution, Information and Transmission Technologies Courses which are included in all of the higher education programs. Students who think that these courses provide the required qualifications have the right to take the exams. Students who pass the exam are exempted from the related courses.

History

From 2017-2018 academic year, the Social Work Program started as a formal education. Social Work The program has a conjuncture of 40 (normal teaching) and no secondary education.The Social Work Program provides services with 3 lecturers.

Profile of the Programme

There is a need to train personnel who can work by combining knowledge and skills in the field of social work, which is an important area due to increased sensitivity to social problems and the search for problem solving for social problems. With this reason, this program provides training services to create a student profile that is practical in practice which carries the basic knowledge and skills in the field of social work.

Program Outcomes

5- Ability to continuously monitor their personal-professional development
6- To inform the relevant people and institutions by using the basic knowledge and skills in the subjects related to the field; ability to transfer ideas and solutions to problems in written and orally
7- Ability to communicate professionally in a foreign language
8- Ability to use basic computer technology in the field
9- Ability to help people in starting and developing the relationship with their environment
10- Ability to act in accordance with quality management and processes
11- Being aware of the contributions of people from different professions, having the team spirit and being aware of being a member of the team.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

At least one midterm and final exam are given for each given course. Each student must attend the courses, practices, laboratory, project, workshop, semester work and graduation work. Students who do not attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practical and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams from those courses. The students have to repeat the related course until they fulfill the condition of attendance in the theoretical courses. Examinations are usually made in writing. However, the instructor may also decide to make an oral presentation. According to the content of the courses, students can be directed to the project work provided that they are stated on the information form. The exams of the courses are carried out by the instructor. Make-up exams can be made to students who are excused by the approval of the relevant board within 15 days as of the end of the mid-term. A short examination and homework evaluation can also be done. The effect of midterm, short term exams and homework assignments is 40% and 60% of final exam. In this evaluation; The instructor of the course takes into account the statistical results of the points taken from the mid-term and final exams of the students taking the course and the notes taken are converted into 4-letter system according to the principles determined in the regulation.

Graduation Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, all of the compulsory courses (minimum 90 ECTS) and elective courses (minimum 30 ECTS) are required to be at least 2.0 out of 4.00.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

• Social Work Associate Degree Program graduates; • Ministry of Family and Social Policies (Provincial / District Directorates, Day-care Centers, Nursing Houses, Children's Houses, Nursing Homes, Elderly Care Centers, Social Service Centers, Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations, etc.) • Ministry of Health (City / County Department of Health, Public Health Agency of Turkey, Turkey Public Hospitals Authority due to public and private patients, etc.). • Ministry of Justice (Penal Institutions) • Courts (Children's Court and Family Court) • Ministry of National Education (in guidance research centers, special education and rehabilitation centers, nursery and day care centers) • Municipalities (Women's Guesthouse, Department of Social Work, etc.) • In private social services and organizations • Work in civil society organizations.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates who wish to continue their education, can get the right to switch to the four-year undergraduate programs of universities if they get enough points in the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) by the Student Selection and Placement Center. However, our graduates can complete their four-year undergraduate program at the Open Education Faculty through the right to pass without examination. Vertical Transfer Programs are social work and sociology.

Mode of Study

Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. (IFSW, 2014). The aim of the social services program is to train new intermediate staff needed in the organization and implementation of social services; It aims to improve the qualifications of individuals who are currently working in the field of social work but have not received an academic education on the subject.
