Philosopher
Specific Admission Requirements
As a result of the two-step (YGS and LYS) TM-3 test which is conducted by OSYM, students are accepted to the program. For details: www. osym.gov.tr; Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Undergraduate and Graduate Education Regulations Item 6.
Approximatly 80 students are accepted to the Program each year.
Qualification Requirements
Proficiency in the program to perform the minimum level of proficiency in the program, which is available in the program taken, (a total of 240 ECTS) courses (C / S) of 4.00 and successfully complete all required to have a GPA of at least 2.00.
Taken, 'Elective Courses' to be achieved. The curriculum renewal / change of course due to the Abolition of the decision of the Divisional Board or in case of opening of the course are subject to change.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Earlier the students who have attended another institution of higher education Prior Learning, to be determined by the Board of Higher Education "in Higher Education Associate Degree and Bachelor Degree Programs Level Switch, CIF Major, Minor and Inter-Credit Transfer Basis" and "Regulation Sıtkı Koçman Mugla University, Associate Degree and Bachelor of Education Regulations "are recognized.
Outside of the formal education or experience in the department based on the certificate (in-formal/non-formal) is not recognized at the moment of learning. However, in all higher education programs in foreign language (English, German, French, et ??al.) Exemption Examination Courses are held at the beginning of every academic year. Students, who are expected to take examinations in these courses have the right qualifications. Students who take the exam and pass the course will be exempt from the related course.
History
Established in 1996, the Department of Philosophy at the University Mugla Sıtkı Koçman, Degree in 2000, in 2001, Master's and Doctoral programs began to accept students in 2006.
The majority of the leading educational institutions have completed their studies at the international level and maintains relations with international academic department with an outstanding academic staff, approximately 300 undergraduate and 40 graduate students are studying to be 340.
Chapter 2 International to so far, and over 10 Congress and Symposium organized international / national recognition for the continuation of the activities in this direction is determined.
Profile of the Programme
Department of Philosophy, the overall formation within the framework of the basic philosophical disciplines, critical thinking, ideas will contribute to our lives, away from the front of the assumptions, forms of life, respect for different cultural values ??and is committed to educate individuals.
In this context, it will carry out the essential elements for the growing high-quality scientific research, national and international level to contribute to the idea which is the common heritage of all mankind, with a view to becoming a chapter moves.
Our goal is to both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a general philosophical formation, all kinds of belief, thought and respect for life forms to train qualified individuals who can think critically, improve the quality of education for this purpose, can be addressed at the national level to conduct studies into the thinking of the society, the acceptance of these studies is to provide an international level .

Student can define the basic terms in philosophy and explain the philosophical problems about them. |

Student can explain the importance of the representing a view or thought in a logical structure in philosophy and apply this. |

Student is able to order the important characteristics of the periods (Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and Contemporary, today) and compare these periods in terms of characteristics they have. |

Student can explain the importance of philosophy in terms of practical problems. Student can explain the importance of the philosophical approach which can make difference in developing possible solutions to the problems in ethics and politics. |

Student is able express views of the prominent philosophers (Platon, Aristoteles, Aquinas, Farabi, İbn-i Sina, Descartes, Hume, Kant) in a understandable way, he/she can explain the importance of these philosophers in the history of philosophy. |

Student is able to compare the philosophy and natural sciences, philosophy and social sciences, philosophy and humanly sciences in terms of the methods and general approaches they have. |

Student is able to use a foreign language at the level of European Language Portfolio B2. Student is able to communicate verbal and documental in this level. |

Student is able to use computer software that his/her field of study requires. Student is able to use technologies of information communication in advanced level. |
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
In the Philosophy Program at least one midterm exam for each course and a final exam. Assessment quizzes and homework done also.
Success midterm grade, the effect of short-term exams and assignments, 40% of the final exam is 60%. In this evaluation, the course instructor, the course, the students' mid-term and final exams taken and grades received scores take into account the results of the statistical framework of the principles outlined in the directive is converted to 4-letter system. Student's cumulative GPA is created notes (WGPA) two consecutive periods less than 2.00 can not take those lessons to the next period. AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grade, that course is considered successful. A student from the DC and DD, depending on the student's graduation is considered AGNO'suna. AGNO'su grade student achievement threshold (2.00) is defined as successful on these courses. December semesters / years, however, WGPA evaluated by calculating the coefficients of these grades. The student who failed a grade of FF, the course is offered in the first semester / year, and continue taking the exam must fulfill the requirements. The grade is appreciated by MM and DD lectures, WGPA participate in the calculation of the assessment.
Graduation Requirements
The normal duration of the program is 4 years. 134 (240 ECTS) credits are required to graduate from a degree program and GPA 2.0 or above must be to achieve.
After third semester with cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above at Semester 3 From the next semester / top semesters in one semester can complete the program can receive a maximum of 3.5 years but not to exceed the amount of credit. But the 'Diploma' 4 year (8th semester) given at the end.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Taking Pedagogical Formation Certificate the graduates from our department may teach in public and private organizations.

Also slightly various public institutions (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of National Education, Social Services, etc.)., Private educational institutions, industrial organizations are also employment opportunities.
Access to Further Studies
After graduation students can proceed their education in post-grad level in their or related fields. If they choose an field of study different from their undergraduate education, students can start graduate education after being successful in Academic Preparation Program within the framework of the relevant regulations.
Graduate admissions are determined by the Institute of Social Sciences of Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University in accordance with the regulations.
