Specific Admission Requirements

Having a high school or equivalent diploma and being successful in the university entrance exam held by ÖSYM and getting enough points.

Qualification Requirements

The education period of the faculty of dentistry is 5 (five) years. Until this period is completed, students must successfully pass all the courses in the education program for graduation and complete the ECTS credit required for each year.

Recognition of Prior Learning

For the Basic Information Technology Use, Turkish Language, Ataturk Principles and History of Revolution and Foreign Language courses included in the curriculum, students who pass the exemption exam held by the University at the beginning of each academic year are considered exempted from the related course. Acceptance and registration of those who want to transfer from other universities' dentistry faculties to the Faculty of Dentistry are accepted with a horizontal transfer according to the quotas determined by the Higher Education Council. The courses taken by students who transfer in the past and have equivalences are transferred, and their adaptation to the training program is provided by the Board of Directors.

History

Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Dentistry was established on 29/05/2017 with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 10404 and started its undergraduate education in 2019 with 41 students.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the faculty of dentistry is to train qualified dentists who adhere to ethical rules by teaching basic and clinical dentistry knowledge with a 5-year education.

Program Outcomes

1-	He/she has fundamental and up-to-date knowledge required for the profession of dentistry

2-	He/she is familiar with and effectively uses the technical equipment, diagnostic and treatment-specific devices, tools, and materials used in the field of dentistry

3-	He/she has the ability to integrate and analyze all disciplinary knowledge in the field of dentistry and apply this knowledge in professional practice

4-	He/she can carry out projects related to the field of dentistry, work collaboratively with research teams, and scientifically evaluate the data obtained

5-	He/she applies knowledge that contributes to their profession during practice and develops solutions in unforeseen situations

6-	He/she is knowledgeable about the legal responsibilities related to the profession, professional deontology, and ethical principles.

7-	He/she conducts diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up processes by prioritizing evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and ethical principles.

8-	He/she carries out the diagnosis and treatment processes of diseases in the oral cavity, teeth, and jaws by prioritizing evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and ethical principles.

9-	He/she communicates effectively in writing and verbally with patients, their families, other healthcare professionals, the community, relevant sectors, and the media.

10-	He/she continuously develops oneself, participates in national and international studies, and shares and presents personal observations, experiences, and research.

11-	He/she applies fundamental and current knowledge in the field of dentistry during professional practice in a manner that benefits society, within the framework of national values and country-specific realities.

Graduation Requirements

In order for students to graduate, they must complete all ECTS credits they need to take during their education. In addition, students who are successful in all theoretical courses and clinical applications are entitled to graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our graduates can work as dentists in 1) Ministry of Health, 2) in health units of some public and private sector institutions, and 3) in their own private practice. In addition, 4) By entering the DUS (Specialist Examination in Dentistry) exam, they can specialize in the departments they are entitled to take in the Faculty of Dentistry by completing their specialization education and obtain the right to make an academic career according to their success.

Access to Further Studies

1) By entering the DUS (Specialist Exam in Dentistry) exam, they can specialize in the departments they are entitled to take in the Faculty of Dentistry by completing their specialization education and obtain the right to make an academic career according to their success. 2) By enrolling in doctorate programs, they can get PhD degree and get the right to make an academic career according to their success.
