Qualification Awarded

Graduates who successfully complete the program by fulfilling all the requirements are awarded an Associate Degree in ‘Elderly Care’.

Specific Admission Requirements

T.C. Within the framework of the regulations determined by the board of Higher Education, student admission to this program is carried out through the central examination system conducted by the Student Selection and placement center. Students are placed in the relevant programs by the Student Selection and Placement Center according to the score they received from this exam after informing them of their choice of the program they wish to study in. Students are enrolled in the program with TYT points type.

Qualification Requirements

The student must have accomplished all the courses in the program. In this program, students must have at least 120 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Previous learning students who were previously educated at another institution of Higher Education, determined by the board of Higher Education "Higher Education Institutions undergraduate and graduate level programs, switching between Double Major, Minor, credit transfer between the institutions and regulations required to be made with" with "within the framework of Muğla Sıtkı University undergraduate and Graduate Academic Regulations graduate evening education is recognized. Exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic term for Foreign Language courses in all higher education programs. Students who feel that they have achieved the required qualifications from these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who take the exam and succeed are exempt from the related courses in the curriculum.

History

Muğla Sıtki Koçman University Vocational School of Health Services within the Aged Care Program, 2019-2020 academic year, fall semester, 40 people student quota has started Education.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Aged Care program is to train decedent professionals who are providing care and rehabilitation for all elderly individuals who need or do not have care and contribute to improving their quality of life.

Program Outcomes

1- Know the basic structure of the human body, the structure and functions of the systems. Know and distinguish the physiological changes that occur due to old age.
2- Evaluate the physical, mental and social care needs of the elderly. It supports the protection, maintenance and maximum use of daily life activities.
3- Ensure that the elderly individual is fed in accordance with the nutrition program recommended by the dietitian, follow the weight and evaluate the changes with the health team members.
4- Evaluate the living area in terms of accident risk and safety and ensures that necessary arrangements are made.
5- Know the common health problems in old age, take the necessary measures. Cooperate with family and health team members to prevent, identify and solve health problems. Act in accordance with ethical principles while performing professional activities.
6- Follow the medical care planned by the health care team and communicate the situation to the healthcare professional if he / she detects problems regarding the implementation of medical care.
7- Carry out personal care and cleaning practices in cases of dependence due to bed, illness or disability.
8- Protects the elderly person from abuse and informs the family and the related institutions when necessary.
9- Plan the necessary activities in line with the principles of healthy and active aging, guide the elderly to receive services from the institutions and organizations providing services, direct them to social activities and support their participation.
10- Have the ability to communicate effectively and have the knowledge of a foreign language to follow the innovations in the field / to communicate with a foreign elderly.
11- Have the competence to reach and evaluate the basic scientific knowledge related to the field.
12- Act in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting, applying and announcing the results of elderly care data.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The contribution of the mid-term exam is 40% and the contribution of the end-of-year exam is 60%. Dec. All exams are evaluated over 100 points.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate, the courses specified in the program and the 30-day internship must be completed successfully. In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS) and achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of the program care for the elderly: elderly care services are conducted, where social services and Child Protection Agency, Municipalities, Hospitals, non-governmental organizations and private Institutions; nursing homes, elderly care homes, powerless home, day centres for the elderly, hospice (terminal period elderly cared for in nursing home), home care services, elderly households, Editing, protected dwellings, etc. they can work under expert supervision.

Access to Further Studies

The successful finishers made by OSYM examination for vertical transfer of the program (DGS) if they are successful, nutrition and dietetics physiotherapy and rehabilitation, Gerontology, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services degree programs can switch to vertical.
