Ula Ali Koçman Vocational School Construction Technology

Qualification Awarded

Students who graduate from this program are entitled to receive an associate degree and receive the title of "Construction Technician".

Specific Admission Requirements

Student admission to the program is carried out through examinations and placements organized by the ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) in line with the relevant regulations-directives determined by YÖK. Those who graduate from high schools can enroll in the program by obtaining sufficient points from the exam conducted by the student selection and placement center.

Qualification Requirements

The student must complete 120 ECTS credits during 2 years of education. In order to graduate from the program, the student must successfully complete all the courses he has taken and the industry-based learning internship of 20 working days, his overall relative grade point average must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and there must be no failed courses.

Recognition of Prior Learning

All academic subjects from Information and Communication Technology, English I and English II, Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History I and Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History II, Turkish Language I, Turkish Language II courses included in the education plans of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Ula Ali Koçman Vocational School Electricity Program An exemption exam is held at the beginning of the semester. Students who think that they provide the expected learning outcomes from these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who are successful in the exam are exempt from the relevant course in the curriculum. If students who have attended another higher education program before apply within the first week of the academic year, the credits of the courses they have successfully completed in the previous higher education departments/programs and the grades they have received from these courses are transferred to the department and program they have registered with, with the decision of the relevant administrative board. The number of semesters corresponding to these courses is calculated by taking into account the total credits of the courses in the education-training program that are recognized and grades of which are transferred, and the semester credits in the education-training program of the program in which the student is enrolled. This period is deducted from the maximum education period specified in Article 44 of the Law, and the semester in which the student will be adjusted is determined by the decision of the relevant administrative board.

History

The Construction Technology Program, which continued its educational activities in Muğla Vocational School until the 2018-2019 academic year, was transferred to Ula Ali Koçman Vocational School on the relevant date and started teaching.

Profile of the Programme

What our country needs in the construction sector; Equipped with the necessary material, project, exploration, quantity information and application skills in all processes from the projecting stage to the delivery stage of the constructions, having professional and computer knowledge to have the design, implementation, control and material tests of these knowledge and skills, foreign language knowledge as a requirement of business life To train contemporary construction technicians with characteristics such as communication, creativity and entrepreneurship. In the program, industry-based theoretical courses covering basic professional knowledge and practical courses are given in the laboratory environment. At the end of the first year, students complete their industry-based compulsory internship for 60 working days in order to better prepare themselves for business life. The type of education in the Construction Technology Program is formal education. The language of education is Turkish.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exams; consists of midterm, final exam, make-up exam, make-up exam, exemption exam and a single course exam. Exam evaluation is determined by the instructors according to the requirements of the courses. In cases where the instructor deems it necessary, homework, project or application studies can also be evaluated with a grade. Midterm Exams: At least one midterm exam is held for the courses offered in each semester. If no other evaluation will be made during the semester except for the midterm exam, the score obtained from the midterm exam may weigh 40~50% of the passing grade. Final Exams: It is held at the end of the semester to determine the success of the student from the courses completed. Final exam evaluation is 50~60% of the passing grade. The weight of the final exam in the passing grade cannot be less than 50% in accordance with the regulations. Make-up Exams: Students who cannot take the midterm or final exam due to a justified and valid excuse are given the right to make-up exams by the relevant administrative board. In order for the student to be accepted to the make-up exam, he/she must have applied to the dean's office/directorship within 3 days from the day the excuse was made, with a petition basing his/her excuse on documents, and his/her excuse must be accepted by the relevant administrative board. Make-up exams: At the end of the semester, students can take the make-up exams for the courses they failed with a FD or FF grade, and for the courses they were successful with a DD or DC grade. The grade taken in the make-up exam replaces the final exam grade of that course. The weights of the midterm and make-up exam grades are calculated as in the final exams. In the courses in which the make-up exam is taken, the final grade is taken as the basis, regardless of the previous grade. Exemption Exams: It is held on the dates specified in the academic calendar for the courses determined by the Senate. Students who are successful in these exams are given an MM grade. Credits taken from these courses are added to the graduation credit. There is no weighted credit score that affects the overall grade point average of the MM grade. Single Course Exam: Students who have met the attendance requirement for graduation but have only one failed course left can take a single course exam for the course they failed. In addition, students who cannot graduate due to their GPA below 2.00 despite being successful in all the courses in the education program they are registered for, apply to the department chair with a petition in order to increase their GPA in order to increase their GPA. They can take a single course exam. A single course exam can be used once. One of the following letter grades is given to the students for each course they take by the instructor assigned to conduct that course as a semester success grade. Score for Semester/End of Year Success Grade Coefficient 90-100 AA 4 85-89 BA 3.5 80-84 BB 3 75-79 CB 2.5 70-74 CC 2 65-69 DC 1.5 60-64 DD 1 50-59 FD 0.5 49 and below FF 0 Evaluations other than the above-mentioned evaluations; TT-Failed course, MM-Exempted course, GG-Passed, KK-Fail, VV – Dropped Course. “TT” is given to students who could not meet the attendance requirement in courses and/or practice studies. Students who are successful in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program Proficiency Exam are exempted from the common compulsory foreign language (English, German, French) courses and are evaluated with “MM”. “DD” is given to students who are successful in the internship studies in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program and the education program. “KK” is given to students who fail in their internships in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program and the education and training program. "VV", for the courses that have been removed from the education program or are not replaced by another course and which do not have to be accomplished, the recommendation of the department chair is given by the decision of the relevant administrative board.

Graduation Requirements

The student must complete 120 ECTS credits during 2 years of education. In order to graduate from the program, the student must complete all the courses he has taken and a 20-day internship, must have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and have no failed courses.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The construction industry is a very broad field that combines different disciplines. Technological developments lead to the continuous growth of these sectors and to an increase in their numbers. Therefore, the need for well-equipped technical personnel in these areas is also increasing. Graduates of the Construction Technology Program have the ability to draw architectural, static or site plans and architectural details in the market, construction and project offices, and have the ability to calculate quantity and progress payment. Therefore, he can work in project bureaus. He can take part in technical supervision services at superstructure and infrastructure construction sites. It provides coordination between the engineer and the construction workers. Supervises the implementation of the projects, assists the engineer in the calculations of quantity and progress payment. Since they can take samples, analyze and prepare reports in cement, concrete and soil mechanics laboratories, they can work in these laboratories. They can work as production staff and laboratory staff in cement factories and concrete plants. They have the opportunity to work in public institutions with the title of technician. Our graduates have a wide range of work such as building inspection institutions, local administrations, building material manufacturers and sellers, concrete plants, contracting companies, decoration companies.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates can transfer vertically to undergraduate programs that are a continuation of the fields they have completed. The provisions of the relevant regulation are applied for the graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs to continue their undergraduate education. The quotas allocated by the university are reported to the OSYM Presidency. These declared quotas and conditions are announced in the Vertical Transfer Guide prepared by ÖSYM. Placement procedures are carried out centrally by ÖSYM according to the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam. Students who successfully complete the Construction Technology associate degree program can transfer vertically to the Civil Engineering, Architecture and Cultural Heritage Preservation and Repair departments of the relevant faculties, provided that they are successful in the DGS opened by ÖSYM.
