Qualification Awarded
Students of the Printing and Publication Technologies programme are eligible for a pre-bachelor degree diploma after successfully completing their courses and fulfilling other requirements. The program graduates have the title of Printing-Publishing Technician (printing technician).
Specific Admission Requirements
The students' admission to Higher Education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (YGS). The examination is held once in a year and administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The candidates are registered to Higher Education Institutions according to their examination scores and their high school grade point averages.
Qualification Requirements
Students who want to enroll in the Printing and Publication Technology Programme are required to complete the secondary education programme. Students who graduated from high school must be graduated from the secondary education program determined by the Higher Education Institution in order to pass without examination. There is no limit to the maximum duration of study in order to obtain a pre-bachelor degree.
Recognition of Prior Learning
The students of our university have the right to request the recognition of prior learning from their previous universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of registration year.
History
Printing and Publication Technologies Programme was founded in 2005-2006 Academic Year. A total number of students is 80 at the moment, 40 of them from daytime education and 40 of them from evening education.
Profile of the Programme
The printing industry is the oldest occupation in the world and this industry is developing with information technology. Nowadays, rapid changes in printing technologies increase the demand for a qualified labour force in printing industry. The aim of this programme is to train individuals to accomplish the operations such as designing, printing, publishing, and marketing communications of these products in order to be able to work in printing - publishing organizations.
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester. Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Examinations are conducted generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the exam in the oral form. Taking into consideration the type of the course, the instructor can give an extra task such as research projects or laboratories. Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. The students should submit the relevant excuse document and application letter in the first day of finishing final examination in order to be entitled to take an excuse exam.
Graduation Requirements
To succeed in the programme, the students should complete successfully all courses (optional and compulsory) and average grade must be 2.0 out of 4.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
In the light of their qualifications, the graduates may be employed in printing and publishing sectors and other relevant institutions.
Access to Further Studies
If the graduated students succeed in Vertical Crossing Exam (DGS conducted by ÖSYM), they have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree in.
