Master's degree in Women's Health Nursing

Specific Admission Requirements

In order to enroll in this program, candidates; -To have a bachelor's degree in nursing or health officer, -The diploma grade must be at least 2.00 (in the quadrant system) , -The student must get at least 55 points from the Academic Postgraduate Education entrance exam, which is administered centrally by the Selection and Placement Center. -The principles regarding the admission of foreign students are determined by the senate.

Qualification Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (6 ECTS), and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students enrolled in the Women's Health Nursing Department may request to be exempted from the courses they have achieved in equivalent programs of higher education institutions that they have studied previously. To do this, they must submit the approved transcript and course content to the relevant unit within one week after the registration week with a petition.

History

Women's Health Nursing Master's Program with Thesis has started education in the fall semester of 2020. The duration of the program is two years, one year for courses and one year for thesis. The language of the program is Turkish.

Profile of the Programme

This program provide using advanced technologic knowledge for increasing quality of nursing service, doing researches about different social subjects and developing leadership features. To provide increasing individual level family and public factors and giving more in the first, second and third level qualified health service.

Program Outcomes

1- To be able to know the conditions affecting women's health, to adopt the concepts of protecting, maintaining and improving women's health
2- To know the cultural factors affecting women's health
3- To be able to define the basic concepts related to women's health according to life periods
4- To be able to distinguish women's sexual and reproductive health problems according to their life cycle
5- To be able to apply the knowledge gained in the field of obstetrics, gynecology and diseases nursing in line with the nursing process
6- Counseling in solving the health problems of women, family and society
7- To know nursing interventions for women's health
8- Ability to gain counseling skills on sexual health
9- To gain caregiver, protective, researcher, educator skills in reproductive health nursing care
10- To be able to discuss the situation of family planning services in the world and in our country

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exams consist of midterm, final and makeup exams. Other than the exams quizzes, project, homeworks and other activities that the instructor deems appropriate can be carried out. The number of these activities and the construbution to the course grades are stated in the course plan by the instructor. Examinations can be done in written, oral, written and oral or practical. All exams are evaluated over 100 points and converted to letter grades by the system. Success grade is calculated by taking the percentages of midterm exams and other activities determined by the instructor provided that it exceeds 50% of the contrubution of the final exam. The student must receive at least a CC letter grade in a lesson to be successful.

Graduation Requirements

Women's Health Nursing Master's Program with Thesis consists of at least 7 courses, 1 seminar course and thesis study, with a total of not less than 21 credits. The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The master's program with thesis consists of a total of 120 ECTS credits, including at least 7 courses, seminars and thesis work, not less than 60 ECTS credits per academic year. The duration of the Women's Health Nursing Master's program with thesis is 4 semesters, regardless of whether they have registered for each semester, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, and the program is completed in 6 semesters at most. If the student fulfills the requirements for the Women's Health Nursing Master's Program with Thesis, he / she can graduate in 3 semesters.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Specialized nurses in this field can be; -Gynecology and Obstetrics Nurses, -Director of Nursing, -Education Nurses, -Supervisors Nurses -Academicians.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their postgraduate education can study in the doctoral program provided that they get a valid grade from the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Exam and foreign language exam.

Mode of Study

To increase the scientific knowledge in the field of women's health nursing, which has an important place in nursing education, to provide qualified and contemporary nursing services to the individual, family and society, and to provide evidence-based nursing practices, to train nurses specialized in the field of women's health nursing with a graduate education program. In addition, at the end of the program, it is aimed to know the factors affecting women's health according to their life periods and to determine these problems and to plan the appropriate nursing care for these problems.
