Qualification Awarded
Tourism and Travel Services Program students are entitled to receive an associate degree after successfully completing their courses and meeting other requirements.
Specific Admission Requirements
In order to be accepted to higher education, students must have taken the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS), which is held nationwide. Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) is held once a year by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are placed in departments in higher education institutions according to the scores obtained from the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) and their high school grade point average.
Qualification Requirements
In order to obtain an associate degree in the field, students must successfully complete all of the compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) in the program and obtain a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to request recognition of their previously completed studies at different universities. In order for newly registered students to have their education recognized, they must submit their transcripts and course contents to the relevant unit within the first week of the registration year.
History
Tourism and Travel Services Program started its activities as formal education in the 1998-1999 academic year. 60 students are enrolled in the Tourism and Travel Services Program. Tourism and Travel Services Program has 3 lecturers.
Profile of the Programme
Our department, located in an important tourism region, continues its activities to provide its students with skills that will help them work effectively in the field of travel management and updates its educational content in line with the needs of the sector. Our department provides its students with basic skills in communication, organization and marketing, as well as providing them with theoretical knowledge about the general functioning of the tourism and travel industry, and provides guidance services that will increase their technical skills and industry experience.
Program Outcomes
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Every student must attend classes, practices, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, semester studies and graduation projects. Students who do not attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and at least 80% of practical and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams of those courses. Students must repeat the relevant course until they meet the attendance requirement for theoretical courses. Exams are usually given in written form. However, the instructor may also decide to conduct an oral exam. Depending on the content of the courses, students may also be directed to project work, provided that it is stated on the information form. Exams for the courses are made by the instructors teaching the course. Make-up exams can be given to students who have an excuse within 15 days from the end date of the midterm exam, with the approval of the relevant board of directors.
Graduation Requirements
The student must not have any failed courses, have a GPA of at least 2.00 (according to 4 systems), have completed a compulsory professional internship and been accepted.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates; can work in various fields in connection with the content of the courses offered in the curriculum. Areas where our graduates can work: A, B and C group travel agencies, organization companies, airport ground services businesses, yacht and marina businesses, front desk, sales and marketing, human resources departments of hotel businesses, rent a car companies, tourism offices, provincial tourism directorates.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can study in the relevant departments of faculties or colleges at the undergraduate level, provided that they get a valid score from the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) and apply.
