Qualification Awarded
Successful completion of the Optician Program is awarded the title 'OPTICIAN'. With the title of Optician, they can carry out the responsibilities of managing director in their own optical stores or other optical stores, take part in glass-coating industry activities in the sector, or work in glasses and sellers.
Specific Admission Requirements
Candidate students who will apply to the Optician Program can be placed in the Optician Program according to the score they get from the TYT type according to the exam results made by Student Selection and Placement System (ÖSYM).
Qualification Requirements
Students who have successfully completed all of the courses in the program (total ECTS 120 total) and who get a CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are eligible to graduate with the title of Optician.

History
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in the field of Optician Program Since 1993-1994 academic year, education-teaching activities are continuing successfully. Our Optician Program continues to provide leading graduates of professional and informed industry with the expert teachers in the field.
Profile of the Programme
The aim of the Optician Program is to provide qualified Opticians who are able to adapt to the person who needs visual rehabilitation by preparing prescription glasses, all kinds of lenses, optical glasses, glasses frames, protective goggles and sunglasses in prescriptions given by doctors specializing in eye diseases. To grow. The duration of the program is 2 years. Through the theoretical and modern equipment taught during these periods, the knowledge and skills that will be used by the students in the opticianry sector are gained by the practical trainings given and it is ensured that these skills are strengthened with summer semester internships at the end of every year. All Optician students who graduate are graduated from the sector.
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Students are given midterm and final exam for each course. The achievement grade is 40% for the midterm exam and 60% for the final exam. In the courses which are applied, the contribution of the midterm exam is 20%, the practice exam 30%, the contribution of the final exam is 50%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who take one of the letter grades (DD) and above are considered to have completed the course. At the end of each semester, the students may take the make-up exam from the courses for that semester.
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete all the courses in the program (total 120 ECTS credits) and achieve a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 will be eligible to graduate with the title of Optician.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of Optician Program can open their own Optician Institution (Optics Store) in the province or district they desire with the title of "Optician" according to the principles of Law No. 5193 on Optician. They may also work as responsible managers in optical shops owned by private or legal persons, if the same law requires the relevant article in accordance with the provisions. Or they can work in factories or companies manufacturing or importing glasses and frames.
Access to Further Studies
Successful candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education, if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by OSYM, They can make a vertical transition to the Physics, Optical and Acoustical Engineering or Physics Engineering.
