Qualification Awarded

Graduates who successfully fulfill all the program requirements will be awarded a PhD degree in International Trade and Finance.

Specific Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to this PhD program, candidates must meet the following requirements: a) Hold a master's degree with thesis, b) Obtain the required minimum score on the ALES exam, c) Fulfill the necessary English language proficiency requirements, d) Pass the entrance exam conducted by the relevant department.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed at least one semester in a graduate program at another higher education institution may be admitted to the university's graduate programs through lateral transfer. The determination of which courses taken at the previous institution will count towards the minimum course load of the graduate program at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University is made with the approval of the Institute's Administrative Board, based on the equivalency and suitability of the courses.

History

The PhD Program in International Trade and Finance at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University was established in 2021 with the aim of training experts with advanced academic knowledge and research skills in the fields of global trade and finance.

The PhD Program in International Trade and Finance at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University is an advanced academic program designed to provide deep expertise and competencies in global economics, international trade, and finance. The program integrates theoretical and empirical research methods to enable a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of international trade, the functioning of financial systems, and the dynamics of global markets. Participants develop strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills, preparing them to become experts capable of leadership roles in international businesses, multinational corporations, financial institutions, and academia. 1- Attains advanced knowledge of scientific research methods and applies these methods in the fields of international trade and finance.
2- Builds a comprehensive understanding of international trade and finance theories and gains the ability to critically analyze current literature in these fields.
3- Identifies problems in international trade and finance, and develops solutions using advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques, evaluating the outcomes with a scientific approach.
4- Develops strategic thinking abilities and applies critical analysis to address issues in international trade and finance, producing innovative solutions.
5- Gains the ability to analyze complex economic and financial data and create models, enabling effective data-driven decision-making processes.
6- Acquires scientific thinking skills in international trade and finance, gaining the ability to conduct independent research, contribute to the literature, and prepare academic publications.
7- Assesses global trade and finance dynamics through a sustainability perspective, integrating environmental and social responsibility into economic decision-making processes.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Each student is required to register for courses at the beginning of the academic term. To be eligible to take the final exams, students must attend at least 70% of the classes for each course. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and one final exam for each course; those who are unsuccessful are entitled to take the makeup exam. The final grade is calculated with a 50% contribution from the midterm exam and 50% from the final exam. All exams are graded on a scale of 100, and a minimum score of 75 is required for the final course grade. Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, or CB are considered to have successfully passed the course.

Graduation Requirements

To successfully complete the program, students are required to pass all courses, achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00, and successfully complete and defend their doctoral dissertation.
