Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the tourist guiding program earn the associate degree.
Specific Admission Requirements
Within the framework of the regulations determined by the Higher Education Institution (YÖK), student admission to this program is made through the central examination system called ÖSYS. Students are placed in the relevant programs by the Student Selection and Placement Center according to the scores they get from this exam after they notify the program preferences they want to study.
Qualification Requirements
To be graduted, students are required to take a total of 120 ECTS over four semesters, 30 per semester, and score a minimum of 2.00 over 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to demand recognition of their previously completed education at different universities. In order for the newly registered students to have their previous education recognized, they must apply to the relevant department within the first week of the registration year with the transcript of their previous education and course content.
History
Our school, which was established the Higher Education Council's decision, dated 25.01.1994, started education in an apartment building with the support of institutions and philanthropists in Ortaca district in the 1994-1995 academic year with a total of 38 students consisting of Tourism and Hotel Management program and Greenhouse Cultivation programs. In 1999, Tourism and Travel Services program started to accept students. In 2000, the evening education of the same program started to operate. As of the 2012-2013 academic year, Tourist Guiding program started to accept students.
Profile of the Programme
The Tourist Guidance program within Ortaca Vocational School, which was established close to important tourism regions such as Fethiye, Marmaris, Sarıgerme and Dalyan, strives to train qualified guides with the professional knowledge and skills needed by the tourism industry. In addition to the courses that will increase their knowledge and skills in the professional field, the students of the program receive training in which they can gain knowledge in social areas such as communication, ethics and marketing. Within the scope of the curriculum, students who receive training with theoretical courses in general improve their practical knowledge and skills by participating in training trips organized by Turkish Tour Guides Association(TUREB). In addition, our instructors provide guidance services for our students to step into the sector. Thanks to the close relations of our school with sector representatives, our students are introduced to sector representatives.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Students are obliged to participate in the applications, projects, seminars, workshops and homeworks within the the assessment and evaluation systems of the courses. There is a minimum of 70% attendance requirement for theoretical courses and 80% for applied and laboratory studies. Students who do not fulfill the attendance requirement are not given the right to take the final exams. Students have to repeat the relevant course until they fulfill the attendance requirement in the theoretical courses. Exams are usually in written form. However, the instructor may also decide to hold an oral exam. Examinations of the course are given by the instructor who teaches the course. Two exams, at least one midterm exam and one final exam, are held for each course. Contribution levels of exams to end-term success scores are determined by the instructor giving the course.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of the Tourist Guiding program earn the right to receive a tourist guidance certificate upon completing the training trip, organized by Union of Turkish Tourist Guides Association (TUREB) and scoreing 75/100 in Foreign Language Proficiency test, in at leats on e foreign language. Depending on the scope of the training trip(regional or countrywide), the graduates earn either a regional or national tour guide certificate. Tourist guides have employment opportunities in the industry either as an independent tour guide or as an employee of travel agencies. Graduates of the program also have employment opportunities in other tourism businesses, especially in accommodation and travel businesses. The graduates of the program also have employment opportunities within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the public personnel selection exam (KPSS).
Access to Further Studies
Candidates, who successfully complete the associate degree program, are entitled to receive education at the undergraduate level, on condition that they score sufficient points in the relevant score type in the the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) organized by OSYM once a year. Graduates of this program may can choose programs such as tourism guiding, tourism management, travel management, travel management and tourism guidance, upon being successful in DGS.
