Specific Admission Requirements

Students will be accepted by their AYT-SAY score. The placement will be executed by ÖSYM.

Qualification Requirements

Students will be admitted with the numerical score of the Field Talent Exam (AYT) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Recognition of Prior Learning

The courses that students have previously taken and succeeded in other educational institutions and departments that provide undergraduate education are evaluated by the exemption commission and adjustment is made.

History

The department was established in 2021. The first students started their education in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Profile of the Programme

The department of digital game design accepts students with central placement according to the AYT-SAY score of the Field Proficiency Exam conducted by ÖSYM. The language of instruction is 30% English. Students are trained to have knowledge about every stage in the development process of a game. For this reason, they have the opportunity to specialize according to their interests by taking courses such as graphic design, creative thinking, character design as well as engineering courses such as coding, human computer interaction and robotics.

Program Outcomes

1- The use of tools and techniques necessary for solving complex problems in the fields of computer science, software engineering, and game programming.
2- Using and writing programming languages required for game programming in a clean and effective manner, and complying with relevant programming standards.
3- Having software proficiency during game development for multi-platforms, multi-media, and multi-components.
4- Being able to carry out visual and auditory design work for 2D and 3D games.
5- Being a part of a game team, adhering to game design and development processes, being able to create the necessary documentation, and producing a product based on this documentation.
6- Being able to perform the necessary testing, analysis, and critique after the game development process.
7- Closely following current trends and research resources necessary for the field of game development.
8- Being able to apply contemporary digital game design techniques and methods to accurately analyze player demographics and create appropriate experiences.
9- Being able to create visual and auditory designs in the field of games by mastering design methodologies, aesthetic theories, and art movements, and being able to analyze existing designs in visual and auditory terms.
10- Being able to apply academic research methods in the field of game design, and having the abilities of inquiry and discussion.
11- Addressing intellectual property rights issues in the field of digital games, having sufficient technical and financial knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship, and having proficiency in business and project development.
12- Understanding the role of games and narrative in cultural and historical contexts.
13- Relating the latest developments in information technologies to the transformation of concepts such as society, individual, identity, property, and gender.
14- Questioning the relationship between the concept and culture of games and the mode of critical thinking.
15- Having knowledge of professional ethics and the ability to question it.

Midterm exam, final exam, homeworks and projects

Graduation Requirements

The students who complete 240 credits by taking mandatory and elective courses will be graduated.

Access to Further Studies

Students who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can apply to related master's and doctoral programs if they get a valid score in the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES).
