Specific Admission Requirements

Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with Thesis; Students who have a bachelor's degree from the School of Health Nursing, School of Nursing, Department of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing, and who fulfill the application requirements in accordance with the Higher Education Council Graduate Education Regulations and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Graduate Education Regulations, will be accepted. In order to enroll in this program, candidates must; Having a bachelor's degree, having a diploma grade of 2.40 (in the 4th system), at least 55 points from the numerical score type from ALES centrally administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test They are required to have a score equivalent to 55 ALES points from the GMAT exam and to get at least 50 points from the Foreign Language Placement Exam (YDS) or Higher Education Institutions Foreign Language (YÖKDİL) exam administered centrally by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). In addition, the equivalence of undergraduate diplomas obtained from abroad must be approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with thesis entrance written exam grade will be evaluated out of 100 full points. The principles regarding the admission of foreign students are determined by the Senate. Written and/or interview grades are given over 100 full points. A candidate's scientific achievement grade will be calculated by adding 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the undergraduate average, and 30% of the written and/or interview grade, and the candidates must have a scientific achievement level of at least 60 in the evaluation.

Qualification Requirements

A student who successfully completes the Master's Program in Surgical Diseases Nursing with a minimum of 120 ECTS in a maximum of six semesters, provided that at least seven courses, a seminar course and a thesis work, are not less than 60 ECTS credits in an academic year, and they obtain the necessary qualification for graduation.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who enroll in the Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with Thesis can request to be exempted from the courses they have already succeeded in the equivalent programs of the higher education institutions they have studied before. For this, they must submit the approved transcripts and course contents to the relevant unit with a petition within the week following the registration week.

History

Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with Thesis was opened in June 2021 and started education in the spring term of 2022. The duration of the program is 2 years, 1 year of which is lecture and 1 year is thesis. The language of the program is Turkish.

Profile of the Programme

In order to train specialist nurses with the Master's Program in Surgical Diseases Nursing, in line with universal ethical principles, the program determines the physical, psychological and social needs of the individual and his family, and evaluates the patient before, during and after the surgery in order to regain and maintain health, well-being and well-being, and to evaluate the possible risks. A wide range of individualized training is provided, including the identification and reduction of surgical complications, patient care in the perioperative period, evidence-based care practices, and prevention of surgical complications. With the Master's Program in Surgical Diseases Nursing; Specialist nurses who have the knowledge and skills to meet the increasing and changing care demands in surgical sciences, who can do scientific research, who can access information and reflect it to patient care by interpreting it, and who can provide evidence-based care in surgery will be trained.

Program Outcomes

1-	Based on undergraduate level qualifications, he/she acquires, uses, develops and deepens current theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of surgical diseases nursing at the expertise level.

2-	Evaluates the theoretical and applied knowledge gained in the field of surgical diseases nursing with a critical approach in a scientific and ethical framework.

3-	Comprehends the interaction between surgical diseases nursing and related disciplines.

4-	Interprets to create new information by integrating the knowledge she/he has in the field of surgical diseases nursing with the information from different disciplines, analyzes and synthesizes using different research methods and offers solutions.

5-	Plans research in the field of surgical diseases nursing and the priority health problems of the society within the framework of the principle of professional development and lifelong learning, and chooses the right statistical methods while planning and doing this research.

6-	Performs statistical analysis at a level that can read and evaluate a scientific article published in the field of surgical diseases nursing, and follows evidence-based practices.

7-	It observes and teaches social, scientific and ethical values in the stages of collecting, recording, interpreting and announcing data related to the field of surgical diseases nursing.

8-	Contributes to the solution of social, scientific, cultural and ethical problems encountered in the field of surgical diseases nursing by using problem-solving skills and scientific research methods.

9-	Uses a foreign language at least at the C1 General Level of the European Language Portfolio.

10-	Follows scientific, technological, social or cultural advances in the field of health and shares the knowledge gained with groups in or outside the field.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exams; It consists of midterm exams, final and make-up exams and is determined by the responsible instructor of the course in accordance with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Graduate Education Regulations. Apart from exams, quizzes, projects, homework research and other activities deemed appropriate by the instructor can be done. The number of these activities and their contribution to the course grade are specified in the course plan by the instructor. Exams; It can be done in writing, orally, both in writing, orally or practically. All exams are evaluated over 100 points and converted into letter grades by the system.

Graduation Requirements

The education in the Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program includes lecture and thesis periods consisting of four semesters. It consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course and thesis work for four semesters, with a total of not less than 21 credits. The seminar course and thesis work are non-credit and the student is evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. In the Master's Program with Thesis, a student who successfully completes a minimum of 120 ECTS in a maximum of six semesters, provided that at least seven courses, a seminar course and a thesis work, are not less than 60 ECTS credits in an academic year, provides the necessary qualification for graduation. The duration of the Master's program with thesis is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses are given, regardless of whether they are registered for each semester, and is completed in a maximum of six semesters. The evaluation of the courses and the thesis is carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the MSKU Graduate Education and Training and Examination Regulations.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Students who have graduated from the Master's program in Surgical Nursing with Thesis, in addition to surgical diseases nursing in the Ministry of Health, University and Private Hospitals, in fields such as emergency, wound and stoma care, in new units added to the surgical field such as day surgeries, endoscopy units, radiological surgery departments, hybrid operating rooms. They will be able to work in operating rooms, which are indispensable for surgery such as robotic surgery and nanotechnological developments. In addition, they can work in the academic field in the Faculties of Health Sciences of Universities, Schools of Nursing in the Department of Surgical Diseases Nursing.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their graduate education can study in the PhD program, provided that they get a valid grade in the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Examination (ALES) and foreign language exam.

Mode of Study

Surgical Diseases Nursing Master's Program with Thesis; In the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (THEQF), Health Basic Field is the 7th level education level. It is also Level 7 according to European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA) 2nd Group and European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL). The general aim of the program; Having the knowledge and skills to meet the increasing and changing care demand in surgical sciences, open to innovations, changes and scientific developments, able to use technology effectively, able to conduct scientific research, reach information and interpret the knowledge gained within the framework of universal values, plan and carry out nursing care, provide evidence-based care in surgery, To train specialist nurses who have adopted the understanding of quality service and have training, consultancy and leadership skills.
