The Tourism and Travel Services Program students are entitled to a bachelor's degree diploma after successfully completing their studies and fulfilling other conditions.
Specific Admission Requirements
Higher Education In order to admit students, a National Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) has to be introduced. The Higher Education Transfer Examination (YGS) is held once a year by Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Student Higher Education Transfer Examination (YGS) is placed in the departments of the Higher Education Institutions according to the average score of 5 points and the average of high school grades.
Qualification Requirements
In order to obtain the associate degree in the field, the students must successfully complete the required compulsory and elective courses (total of 120 ECTS) required to be taken in the program and obtain a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 over the GPA.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to demand recognition of their education that different universities have already completed. In order to recognize the learning of new enrolled students, they must submit their transcript and course content to the relevant department within the first week of enrollment.
History
From 1999-2000 academic year, the Tourism and Travel Services Program started its activity as a formal education. In 2001, the second education students were taken in the academic year. In the Tourism and Travel Services Program, 100 students are enrolled each year for 50 (normal education) and 50 (secondary education). Tourism and Travel Services Program provides services with 3 lecturers.
Profile of the Programme
Located in a major tourism region, our department continues its activities to provide its students with the skills that will help them to work effectively in the travel management field and update the content of education and training in line with sector needs. It provides theoretical students with general knowledge on the general functioning of the tourism and travel industry, providing practical skills in communication, organization and marketing, providing guidance and practical experiences that will enhance technical skills and improve sector experience.
Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading
Every student has to attend classes, practice and vocational training. Students who do not attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practical and laboratory studies are not allowed to take final exams from those courses. Students have to repeat the relevant lessons until they fulfill the attendance requirement in the theoretical courses. Examinations are usually written. However, the teaching staff may also decide to conduct an oral examination. Depending on the content of the lessons, the students can be directed to the project work, provided that it is stated on the information form. The exams of the courses are taught by the instructors who teach. Students who have excused exams may be approved by the relevant board of directors within 15 days of the end date of the midterm exam.
Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses available (120 ECTS credits), obtain a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and successfully complete the compulsory internship.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates; can work in various fields in connection with the contents of the courses given in the curriculum. Areas where A, B and C group travel agencies, organization companies, airport ground handling operations, yacht and marina operations, hotel management front office, sales and marketing, human resources departments, rent a car firms, tourism bureaus, provincial tourism directorates, graduates respectively.
Access to Further Studies
Candidates who have successfully completed the associate degree education can study at the related departments of the faculties or higher education institutions at the undergraduate level on the condition that they apply with a valid grade from the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Mode of Study
The graduate students who graduate from the department have no problem finding employment in the tourism sector. The degree obtained from our department is international.
