Qualification Requirements

1. Possesses current and in-depth knowledge in the sub-specialties of social services, comprehends the interaction between relevant disciplines, and effectively utilizes information technologies, technical equipment, and statistical software. 2. Solves problems by using theoretical and applied knowledge acquired in the field of social services, generates new knowledge by integrating information from different disciplines, performs analysis and synthesis, writes research reports, conducts advanced examinations and analyses using technological tools, and accurately applies and interprets statistical methods. 3. Designs expert-level matters related to the social services field, develops solution proposals, produces solutions by taking responsibility even in unforeseen complex situations, conducts studies independently or as part of a team, and contributes scientifically to the field by publishing national scientific articles or making presentations. 4. Evaluates information related to the social services field with a critical approach, applies the principles of professional development and lifelong learning, performs statistical analysis at a level sufficient to evaluate scientific articles, and conducts research that forms evidence for professional practices by following evidence-based practices. 5. Discusses and shares their knowledge, current developments, and their own work in the field of social services with groups in the same and different fields in a systematic written, verbal, and visual manner, critically examines and develops social relationships and norms in professional settings, and also communicates verbally and in writing using a foreign language at a general level. 6. Develops social service strategies and policies, interprets implementation plans, observes ethical and scientific values in data management, applies knowledge in interdisciplinary studies, evaluates current developments, contributes to social service policies, and acts ethically.

Recognition of Prior Learning

To be eligible for a master's degree and to be a student in the Department of Social Work at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, applicants are expected to meet the requirements specified in the University's Graduate Education and Training Regulations and the conditions outlined in the master's student admission announcement issued in accordance with those regulations.

History

Our Master's program welcomed its first students in the 2023-2024 academic year and our work is ongoing.

Profile of the Programme

Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Social work draws support from fields including philosophy, psychology, sociology, law, and economics. In addition to these areas, students receive training in medical and psychiatric social work, family and child welfare, delinquency, population dynamics and social welfare, and communication techniques. The aim is for students who complete their master's degrees in the field to contribute to society as Social Work Specialists.

Program Outcomes

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Within the program, assessment is conducted through written exams, oral presentations, and assigned homework. This comprehensive evaluation aims to foster Social Work Scholar who possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the Social Work Department's Master's program, master's students who have registered for the program are expected to first complete the determined elective and compulsory courses in the coursework phase, and then complete a thesis proposal related to the field, followed by the thesis process.
