Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates who will apply for the Master's program with thesis must have a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports Teaching from the Faculties of Sports Sciences or Schools of Physical Education and Sports (Applications of those who have a Pedagogical Formation Training Certificate will not be accepted), the GPA of undergraduate graduation must be at least 2.5 out of 4 full marks. and at least 65 points must be obtained from the ALES exam.

Qualification Requirements

The program includes a total of four semesters of education, two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis. Students who take at least 120 ECTS from the courses in the program, successfully complete all of these courses, and successfully defend a thesis they have prepared in a field related to their subject before a selected jury, will have met the qualification requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning

If the student applies on the dates announced in the academic calendar, the courses taken at the university where he/she previously studied will be evaluated by the relevant commission.

History

The Physical Education and Sports Teaching Master Program started its education activities in the 2023-2024 Fall Semester and started accepting students in the same academic year.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the program is to train teachers, academicians and researchers that the country needs in the field of Physical Education and Sports Teaching by providing the skills to access new information, evaluate, interpret and apply information by conducting scientific research, and by expanding and deepening knowledge based on the qualifications of the Physical Education and Sports Teaching undergraduate degree. On the other hand, it is to support the professional development of teachers working in official educational institutions and private educational institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (teachers who have completed their master's degree are exempt from the written exam for specialist teaching).

Program Outcomes

1- Based on undergraduate qualifications, she/he has theoretical and practical knowledge at the expert level in the field of physical education and sports, and develops and deepens this knowledge.
2- Discusses the interaction between disciplines related to physical education and sports.
3- He/she uses the theoretical and practical knowledge at the level of expertise he has acquired in the field of physical education and sports, develops and deepens this knowledge.
4- Creates new knowledge by functionally integrating the knowledge gained in the field of physical education and sports with knowledge from different discipline areas.
5- Proposes solutions to problems requiring expertise in the field of physical education and sports by using quantitative and qualitative scientific research methods.
6- Develops new strategic approaches and takes responsibility to produce solutions in complex situations that he does not foresee in the field of physical education and sports.
7- Examines the social relations in the teaching profession and professional environments and the norms that guide these relations from a critical perspective, takes action to improve them and change them when necessary, and provides leadership
8- Evaluates information in the field of physical education and sports critically and directs learning
9- Carries out his studies within the framework of lifelong learning
10- Shares information about physical education and sports verbally and in writing at national/international level
11- Uses information and communication technologies at an advanced level along with the computer software required in the field of physical education and sports
12- Supervises the stages of collecting, interpreting and announcing data related to the field on the basis of social, scientific and ethical values and teaches these values
13- Develops strategies, policies and implementation plans on issues related to the field and evaluates the results within the framework of quality processes

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

In this program, evaluation rules differ for each course. The workload and content of each subject may be changed.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate; • The student must register every semester starting from the semester following the appointment of the advisor at the latest, • Having successfully taken at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, including the seminar course, and thesis work, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in one academic semester, • Participating in at least 70% of the courses, having a final grade of at least 70 (CC) at the end of the semester, • The GPA of seven semester courses and seminar courses must be at least 2.00.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

After providing the necessary qualifications, graduates can work as teachers in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education or as academicians in universities.

Access to Further Studies

Those who successfully complete their master's degree can continue their doctoral education provided that they receive a passing grade from the ALES and and a valid foreign language exam.

Mode of Study

The general purpose of this program is; To train teachers, academicians and researchers that the country needs in the field of Physical Education and Sports Teaching by broadening and deepening the knowledge based on the undergraduate degree qualifications of Physical Education and Sports Teaching, as well as providing the competencies of accessing new knowledge by conducting scientific research, evaluating, interpreting and applying the knowledge. On the other hand, it is to support the professional development of teachers working in public educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Education and private educational institutions.
